**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

That doesn't sound good, could it be screen burn or are you thinking some type of defect?
Not sure. It looks like a smallish square/circle? Not really noticeable on light backgrounds, but is more visible on darker or grey backgrounds and when the screen is dimmer.

Edit: Found this image on Reddit. Ignore the arrows and all that stuff. That tiny circle/square dot up near the camera is in roughly the same area i can see mine. Although mine doesn't seem as bad as that?

Edit Two: Switched over to light mode and rang voicemail. Saw the proximity sensor that pops up. Like 4 little squares that make a square and it's slap bang where that mark is! So I've no idea, maybe it's always been there and i've only just noticed?

How is the glass on the S23? I've seen a few reports that it's scratching quite easily? Apparently it's more resistant to breaks / shattering, but micro scratches are an issue.

If it's prone to micro scratches that no for me, I don't like using screen protectors.

Think what you've said is right. More crack/shatter resistant than scratch resistant.

Guess it all depends on how/where you use your phone etc too.

If it's prone to micro scratches it's going to scratch in everyday use even if you baby it, which isn't great.

I've had phones previously for years with zero scratches and no screen protector, seems like a downgrade.

Link doesn't work. Edited my above post too. Looks like the proximity sensor

Just had a better look at the image in your above post. Gotta say I've never noticed anything like that, or even thought about where the proximity sensor is located. Is there a way to highlight it? Im curious to see if I can find it ;)

In the right light at the right angle without the screen being on I have caught sight of the fingerprint square that lives under the screen, but it's not easy to see at all, and never notice it day to day.

No I've never noticed it before, just last night. Not sure how long it's been there.

All I can say is the dimmer the screen and the greyer/darker the background. Just looks like a small dot/smudge.

See I can't see the fingerprint sensor at all. It's weird how devices vary so much!

Someone on the Samsung community posted this;

The AMOLED display has a film attached on the back side that functions as a shield and absorption against the external light, and the film is removed on the part where the proximity/light(photoresistor) sensor and the fingerprint sensor are attached for proper working of the sensor. As a result, the brightness of the part sensor attached may look different when the screen is turned on for a long time, but those phenomenon disappear after turning off the screen in a certain period of time. Also, using a bright wallpaper can reduce the phenomenon. Those phenomenon are not a product defect, so you can be secure and relieved while using the device."

Weird how it's just developed. Will see if it fades/disappears or gets worse. If it's the latter I'll be rma'ing

Been listening to music on my S23U a lot last few months.. but for the first time ever I put it screen down on a table and and whoah it's somehow even louder? Crazy.. never knew about this 'feature' :D

Oh and 1 month now with no screen protector - not one single micro scratch and I've dropped the phone about 5 times and have a cat in the house. Dunno why I bothered to put one on in the first place, definitely doesn't need one.

Mine picked up micro scratches within first few days while I was waiting for screen protector. I do tend to be rougher on the phones though with hiking/camping and second manual-ish job.

Saying that not impressed with quality of ones I got, second one already needs replacing as started lifting on the corner, first one barely lasted a month.

Still having the annoying problem where videos are just horribly compressed when sent through Whatsapp/Facebook (same algorithmi guess), I know you get poor quality but goes from 4k to looking like something closer to 240p.

My friend has no issues when sending ones from their iPhone so going to play with different resolutions and frame rates to see if can pinpoint the issue. Everything turned up to max in WhatsApp settings already.

According to my Accubattery it has decreased a little, installed July update the other day so will see.

Looks like Expert RAW had an update too, colour saturation has been turned down apparently.

Did anyone here buy the S23/Plus/Ultra and didn't opt for a GaN-rated charger in the end?

I wrote much earlier on in this thread that I have the 10-port 60W Anker block and the 45W Anker cube which aren't GaN-rated, and I said that it didn't really matter that much! So now I've had the S23 Ultra for 4 months, I'm happy that I can get from 15% to 85% (the recommended battery percentage range) in an hour.

So it did disappear roughly a day or so after it appeared. It's reappeared today after a 40min or so call. So it's definitely Proximity sensor related. Little annoying but it'll be one of those things that just blend into the background when i'm worrying about something else that isn't important! haha
