**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

Surprising news that after how successful using Snapdragon has been for them across the S23 range. Wonder what is behind it, supply issues or cost cutting perhaps?
Successful for who?

Qualcomm is making more money for each phone sold than Samsung. They got the market in a chokehold, they don't have any competition.

Anyone know how to extract audio from vid? I mean if I do a screen recording and only want to send the audio to someone... surely you can do that?

Move/copy the MP4 to your computer, and there are numerous video editing programs that you can use to strip the audio from the MP4 wrapper. For my last 2 phones, the S20U and the S23U, the MP4 wrapper uses .aac for sound, and the .aac can then be played in most popular MP3 players e.g. Winamp. I just tested it before I submitted my reply and I can confirm it plays fine. For 23-minute 1.56GB video, the .aac was 41MB in size.

Thanks, I figured it had to be expensive for Samsung to use them but had no idea Qualcomm were doing that well out of each device!

By successful I meant how well they seem to have been received and selling versus the previous Exynos models, but if Qualcomm are actually making more per device then that would have course explain why Samsung are planning to use Exynos again for the global FE.

I just love the this camera. My Poco F3 would have flatlined in situations like this. A few from Amman....

Cracking shots! I have to admit the S23 has stopped me carrying a "Proper" camera with me most of the time.
Used to have a mirrorless body with a 35mm lens without fail and now I just don't bother for most things

still loving battery on my s23 ultra. I have forgotten to charge it at night few times and been fine until after work the next day.

How much SOT you getting? I seem to be getting 6-7hrs now where previously it was 7-9hrs depending on type of usage. Not looked in detail though.

Two days in and I'm finding the battery around the same as my bought on launch S20 Ultra, although I've maxed out all settings on the S23.

Not an issue though and will check next week, when I will be using it to film a few 1hr videos.

Yes as now.
My S20 would always get a boost or charge and was good for most of the day. I only put it on battery care a few months back, and that was only because at the time I was going to keep it longer.

Kinda ridiculous it can't be done on the phone itself? They make it possible to cut out an object from a photo by holding your finger on it but not to extract audio from a video. I wonder if iPhones have the option.

Not really that ridiculous, a simple google will bring back loads of results like this

And there are loads of apps available

Ridiculous because I would assume plenty of people would want to do it for their conversations so would be a neat feature to have.

Yeah, got the 3 year warranty through Amazon on this so probably hold on to it for a long time regardless, feel like this is one of those better devices that they release every few cycles.

Is this a good deal for the S23 Ultra? i received a £300 off voucher for the S23 Ultra, from O2, and i've been looking to upgrade for a quite a while

Current phone & deal:

O2 PAYG Unlimited £15pm
S10+ 128GB (no contract)

Deal:
  • Apparently I add £300 to the upfront cost and O2 cover it.
  • S23 256GB Black
  • Unlimited Data, texts, minutes. EU Roaming.
  • £46 per month (assuming the £300 up front voucher works)
The way I look at it is that i'm paying £15pm anyway so really it's £31pm in terms on 'new' cost

Concerns:
  • Not sure if this upfront voucher thing is worth it. Seems I end up paying more for a contract so it goes there rather than the phone
  • SIM is £24pm for effectively what i'm paying £15pm now. It's the data I really care about, i'm don't use texts or minutes much
  • Phone is £22pm (almost £800) but not sure If I can get it without SIM.
