Yes it has been improved looks wise, I don't like the silver sparkly back though, it looks rather girly! :eek: I would honestly prefer a black back which has similar pattern to the front.

LOL! It's a safe bet Mate if you do put money on! :D I would normally get one on launch day but will wait a while and see what people make of the phone. I'll probably end up buying one a day after launch! ;)

If all goes well and it's to your satisfaction, I would assume that you will be getting the S4 ASAP?

In terms of sites like Engadget and The Verge I was thinking exactly the same, no doubt they will have first dips on the phone and all these previews will spring up all of a sudden. Quite exciting anyway! :)

If I had an innovative idea that I thought would profoundly change the entire smartphone market, I probably wouldn't be announcing it on a forum like this. Like I said, it's for Samsung to show us something innovative.

Yes, the back of that review unit is very girly. I suspect there will be a more 'manly' back option... :p

Assuming all is well and good I'll most definitely get one, as for when - I might wait a short while and check the user feedback is as positive as it should be!

Cyanogen mod won't ever support a lot of the deep down stuff Samsung put in just because they don't need or want to.

I prefer TW features now anyway, put Nova on and you're laughing after a quick brush with a theme for the notification bar etc.

Samsung only release the kernel source code (afaik, I don't know all the specifics of what's released and what isn't), since they have to. Drivers aren't released (again, afaik), which is why there's normally camera/bluetooth/other stuff problems with AOSP ROMs. You're right that a lot of stuff they won't include anyway, because it doesn't fit into what AOSP is though :).

I don't like AOSP ROMs for the most part anyway, much prefer Samsung ROMs with a different launcher and a much emptier /system/app folder :).

This is basically correct, On the S2 it was blobs for the DAC, Some source for the CPU if I remember correctly & no tvout at all.

You may say there are plenty of ROMS out there but the vast majority are just Samsung ROMs stripped of the junk they include & then they add someone else's battery mods/themes on top & call it "SUPERAWESOMEROM 1.0V FANTASTIC BATTERY LIFE"

Any AOSP ROMs you will always have problems & that's where the majority of the customisation is PA, CM, AOKP etc. MIUI used to be based on AOSP but then they moved to a Samsung base because of all the problems.

I loved the domination theme when I had the S2 but it still felt nothing like real JB to me.
 
Hmm I thought they said it was the full source code, so what phone was that then!

It's Sony that have been releasing full source code with drivers etc lately. Samsung have typically always been pretty bad.

Although Samsung are better then other companies when it comes to actual software update times. Although lets be honest nobody is going to be seeing KLP on the S4 officially till late 2013 at the earliest.

With the SII it took a good 5 months before the first bad unofficial Jellybean roms started to trickle out.

I hope so, as I can't give in to any "metrosexual urges" :eek:

Wise move to make, I intend to do the same, I don't know how long my will power will hold out though. As it's quite carp when it comes to buying tech! :D
 
I skipped the S III as I was mid-contract with my S II so I'm rather looking forward to this. Hopefully there aren't any major flaws. I'm on a sim-only contract now so my next task is working out which are the better suppliers to buy the phone outright from....as in which ones get the stock first!
 
My upgrade isn't due until June but I shall be cancelling my contract with Voda and going with 3 I think. 500mb internet is fine on a Blackberry with nothing much to download, but on this I think I'll be using a lot more data!

I'd prefer an 18 month contract but they all seem to be 24 nowadays!
 
Hmm, so upgrade due 31st March - what to replace my Desire HD with?

SGS4 or One?

TW is looking none the better - white menus just for the sake of it?

Ah well at least we have options after root and Vertumus.

The hatch design on the front is a bit funky - not sure I like it.

Yes, thank God for Vertumus and Deluxe Settings! We'll have to wait a while though whilst devs get hold of the S4 and work their magic!
