*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

After a few days on kitkat (4.4.2), the only thing ive noticed different from 4.3 is the battery goes down very, very quick. Other than that I cant see anything.

In the Battery application My Android System has used 35% battery and screen is 21% battery never experienced anything like this before. Its certainly killing my battery.

Afternoon Guys, My S4 has been unhappy running Echo 4.3 Final bean. No idea why but now I want to go back to stock and see if it makes the phone more stable. Im not really bothered about custom roms and rooting at the moment.

Ive found a copy of 4.4.2 via XDA developers and the guide how to unroot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477

I take it basicly I need to backup any thing I want boot into download and apply the latest ROM through ODIN?

Just got one of these for £254 new, will see how it goes compared with my N5

i did the same thing, my god compared to the N5 the S4 is so bad it aint even funny :(

the screen is not as crisp, the battery life is slightly better in teh N5, the lag here and there is awful, the speaker is not better than the one in the N5, the materials feel like this phone is made from soda plastic recycled bottles...the N5 wins hands down

I've got the opposite experience.. With 4.4.2 I have 60ish% when coming home from work in the evening, with 4.3 I often had 30-40ish%.. Im running Echoe though, so might have a more tuned Kernel.

Just one caveat.. put the google play edition ROM on the phone and you've actually got a Nexus 5 with a better camera, micro SD slot etc etc

Can someone recommend me the latest or best GSM modem? I upgraded to the latest Goldeneye ROM the other day and broke my modem in the process. Reflashed MH1 and MH1 WiFi fix but it's obvious my modem/signal is behaving quite as good as before going from GE 24 to 26. Not sure which one to go for, on the old bootloader.

I9505ZHUFNB3 looks like the right one....

I'm using NB8 on EE with no issues.

just got my £254 s4 , it was on 4.2.2 , done about 6 software updates (re-boots) so far, its still not on 4.4.2 ! you would think it would update once to get the latest.

Obviously the N5 will be better than the S4, its a generation on from the S4, fair comparison will be the S5.

S4 has the advantage over the N5 (IMO) of a physical home button, I find it much easier and won't waste any of the screen with buttons.

owning both i would argue wether the s4 camera is actually better. the n5 is also better built (a big one for me coming from 'solid' iphones and is faster.

on another note i should be getting my s4 back from repair tommorow... what rom would people recommend ?
