*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

owning both i would argue wether the s4 camera is actually better. the n5 is also better built (a big one for me coming from 'solid' iphones and is faster.

on another note i should be getting my s4 back from repair tommorow... what rom would people recommend ?

build quality I'd give you, camera I think is a dead heat once you've put a new ROM on it, the standard TW cam is fantastic but once you lose the samsung side it becomes average to good.

Speed I personally think is either something I'm completely ignorant to which I find hard to believe, or its a perception thing. I've got an iPhone 5, a Moto X and an S4 and I honestly can't tell the difference between any of them.

I put a Zens Qi charger back onto my S4 - stiff as anything now. A little thicker, enough to annoy "bumper" cases, but it isn't noticeable at all in my pocket. And Qi is brilliant. The phone actually feels like you would really have to put effort into twisting it, to get anything as bad as a cracked screen - the fake carbon fibre one I found a bit thin and the whole phone was a bit too flexy!

I have no idea why people keep comparing Nexus 5 to the S4, they're different gens.

I'm not sure what phones some of you used when referencing the S4, but the camera and speaker on the S4 are better than the N5 hands down. As someone already mentioned earlier, stick GE rom on the S4 and you have yourself a device capable of running smooth as butter with the additional features. Yes the N5 has faster hardware but in real life use you won't notice it much between the two.

Quick question. Missus picked up one of these today. Thing keeps going a bit bonkers with her contacts. Every time she opens whatsapp it adds all those contacts to her contact lost. Even though she has gone into it and told it not to. It's the same with LinkedIn

Any ideas how she stop this happening and just have google contacts in the contacts list only?

contacts > menu button > contacts to display, rest should be obvious. It's probably worth noting that whatsapp has no contacts function, it's displaying it from the composite address book on the phone itself IIRC.

Cheers mate. That sorted most of them. Some are still duplicated for some reason. Ie contact called sis and then whatsapp contact called Caroline. Even though only gmail contacts are ticked to show in the list.

Think this is because the display is a just a filter, the contacts are still there. Assuming Caroline=outlook/linkedIn/something else contact and Sis=gmail contact, C is before S so 2 contacts with the same phone number, this is the expected result. You could remove contacts or link them together to fix it. Try rebooting too, Whatsapp is a lazy updater of contact info.

Cheers. I'll give your suggestions a whirl. :)

Hmm...4.4.2 update...android OS usage...and android system usage through the roof and losing 4% battery every hour...doing literally nothing... all apps closed, location services off etc.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone spec me headphones for use with my S4 while in the gym? I need one that has good sweat resistance and has a microphone so i dont need to pull out my phone when I get a call. Any recommendations?

I dont understand these complains about the battery life.. I've been running 4.4.2 for about a month now (currently on Echoe V18) and I find it a fair bit better than 4.3.. I've chosen not to install the samsung specific apps, so that might be the reason.. ? I highly recommend Echoe if you dont mind experimenting with custom roms.

S4 has the advantage over the N5 (IMO) of a physical home button, I find it much easier and won't waste any of the screen with buttons.

+ expandable storage
+ bigger battery
+ better camera (i've owned both and still have both, N5 takes better lower light but everything else the S4 wins imo)
