*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

I think that's being generous lol. My s2 took better photos in low light. Indoors the s4 is just rubbish. Its like the anti-ONE.

The S2, I miss that phone so much :(

Can't remember that far back with regards to S2 camera, but yeah the samsung phones aren't that great for low light shots in general. They seem to produce way too much noise at higher ISO's.

+ expandable storage
+ bigger battery
+ better camera (i've owned both and still have both, N5 takes better lower light but everything else the S4 wins imo)

bigger battery that doesnt last as long

there nothing in it between the cameras

id rather have the build quality than the storage. ive had unlimited data contracts for years now and dropbox and googles cloud have got me covered .

dont understand why both are still worse off than my 2.5 year old iphone 4s camera-wise though.

all of these 'top' phones are good. guess it just depends what the individual wants and their budget

I'm able to get 5-6 hours of screen on time with the S4 with ease, I struggle to get 4.5 with the Nexus 5 under the same usage to be honest.

Not much in the cameras yes, but it's safe to say the Nexus 5 takes the better low light shots, the s4 takes the better outdoor shots. Of course this is my opinion after trying the two but quite a few reviews have said the same thing.

I quite like the build of the S4 got no problems with it.

Exactly, end of the day it's personal preference :P

Factory reset seems to have helped a bit - currently at 74% (5 hours on battery - 1.5 hours bluetooth music streaming - 45 minutes wifi hotspot and a few messages)...

will try tomorrow with Juicedefender in play - seems back to normal at the moment though.

ill have to try that rom ive never seen anything like that.........

You on a old bootloader or new one?

is there really no definative guide to what apps suck power and an app that shows you easily which apps are using power...........ive never been able to find a app that tells you easily and simply whats sucking up power.

New bootloader.

WanamLite v2.5:

Ktoonsez Kernel with his kernel settings:

(make sure you get the TW KitKat version)

With the above combo I'm easily achieving 6 hours screen time, let me know if you need any more help :)

might be a bit beyond me! im running echo rom on old boot loader. Do i need to flash a new bootloader(one thats a foxy knoxy?)

Or maybe i could flash his kernel with echo ? :D

You'd need the new bootloader for that Wanam rom yeah.

You could flash that kernel with your current rom and see if it helps :P as long as you are on KitKat :P

it never existed, it was basically an S4 on prepay that came with a "free" galaxy gear that you could sell which very roughly got you to £254 I believe.

I think the offer may be over and it paid no attention to fees etc etc.

Basically its not £254.

Grade A from smartfonestore would be your best bet as its cheaper than £254 and in my experience having bought a few phones from there their grade A is basically new. They state a 60 day warranty but thats only the warranty directly with them, manufacturers warranty stays intact so you'd likely have a fair amount of the balance on that too.

No, one place did have them for sale at £254 on 26th March , i bought one ,they had about 9 and sold out within 1 hour.

goodness... my mistake!

hardly commonplace though.. I wonder why they were selling them so cheap? Not imports or refurbs in any way? Definitely 9505s not 9500s etc?

Brand spanking new sealed 9505's :D , i think when the S5 is out a month or two, this will be the normal price.

A year on. I've had enough of rooting and playing about with custom roms, kernels on my Droids . I refused to put anything Knox related on my device but in the end it was way too much hassle than it was worth. Bit the bullet earlier and flashed an offical 4.4.2 Vodafone rom via I odin and new bootloader, modem and dreaded Knox. Surprisingly everything now works as it should (in time for my next Droid in a few weeks) It was a fine device IMHO but I'll not be jumping on the S5.

I had seen the free Gear offer but it was from Vodafone and I didn't fancy the bloatware.

I am actually surprised at mysefl for recognising the retailer of the screenshots above (thanks btw) but it's gone back up to £340 now. No rush as such so will wait for the next price drop.

Is there anyone with a extended battery that has found a decent case combo...

I have a extended battery and back cover but am to scared to use it with out a cover........

ps the 9500 is the same as the 9505 right?
