You can sync chats to Google Drive from Whatsapp.

I've upgraded from the Z3 to the S7 Edge - first thoughts:

  • Screen is fantastic - really is as good as the reviews suggest. Feels no bigger than the Z3 in the hand which considering the increased screen size is great.
  • Battery - early days but incredibly it seems at least on a par with my Z3 if not better. Very impressed as this was a big concern.
  • Sound - loud and clear - always an issue with my Z3 at least on calls.
  • Speed - seems a fair bit quicker overall. Although the Z3 was no slouch.
  • Camera - different league to the Z3 in every way. Super fast to start, focus and shoot with fantastic results. Love it.
  • Fingerprint reader - I have a work iPhone so missed this on the Z3. Works very well on the S7.
  • Edge screen - bit of a gimmick to me so far but would imagine this will improve as more become available.
  • Have also got the wireless charger which works incredibly well and conveniently on fast charge.
  • Form factor - a lot more comfortable to hold than the Z3.
So yes for me it has been a really worthwhile upgrade over the Z3 - no easy feat as I had the Z3 from launch and it was a fantastic phone. Also, I got a decent price for the Z3 so cost to change was very reasonable.

I have had a Z3 for the past 1.5 years and still can't decide if I am getting this phone. May wait for the price to drop slightly as my Z3 is still running perfectly.

So no is the answer, won't be getting it today. Apparently it wasn't packed until 3am this morning. Should be dispatched sometime this afternoon for delivery tomorrow, we'll see. Don't think I'll be pre-ordering from Amazon again. Atleast their customer service is helpful.
 
So far. I'm loving the edge over my iPhone 6s plus. It's just a sexier device. Few things I'm trying to get used to. Don't knowwhere all my files are going from what's app tetra etc but will figure that out.

Loving nova and the gestures. Samsung should allow more customisation with touchwizz.

When opening the camera app, it hangs and pops up "warning - camera failed" on the screen. Tried all advice I could find, including factory resets. Each reset, it would work again until a reboot, then same failed message. Couldn't see anyone else with the same fault on here or XDA, so just unlucky I guess.

While not a "right now" thing, BT scanning is required for BT beacons to work. There's only a few really good implementations of this tech out there right now (by a mile the best to me is the Levi Stadium of the 49ers did this absolutely nuts integration into their app: http://techcrunch.com/2014/11/04/how-the-49ers-are-using-beacons-to-help-you-find-hot-dogs-and-beer/ )

I have wifi on, doesn't impact me too greatly and i'm a big user of google now. It's a combination of sensors these days to work out your location so it just sharpens the accuracy. If this is your first android in a while you might be interested in the smartlock system. It can be found under Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure lock settings > Smart lock. It allows for your device to be kept unlocked under certain circumstances (eg you're at home).

This has literally just started to happen with mine.
 
I have bought a miracast dongle to make up for the lack of MHL on the S7e and have set it up. Its connects fine to the phone and mirrors the screen. I tried BBC Iplayer with it but I get lag, pauses and audio drops.

Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?

Tempted to go into CPW and pick one of these up, but my nearest is a bit of a trek and they don't seem to allow you to check stock and reserve one currently in stock.. I only seem to be able to order one delivered to the store. Not sure when that changed.

You can try force closing then clearing the data for the camera app and see if it helps, or just a simple reboot. Most people say that has helped on previous galaxy phones. Didn't work for me. Only thing that did was the full factory reset and each time, problem recurred within 30 mins. I didn't have anything fancy installed on it either, just the usual social networking and news apps I always use. Only good thing is the novelty of having a new phone has worn off slightly now and I am happy enough to wait until Tuesday to receive the replacement. I have the regular S7 by the way...
 
Can someone please try exporting an app to the SD card? I just tried and it just hangs on the Export screen and then doesn't seem to transfer. I press back and then it is still reported as being on the internal storage... :confused:

S7 Edge here.

I've tried to reboot, force stop and clear cache, and wipe cache, and nothing's worked so far. Have seen a factory reset recommended but some people have said it's come back after. One person in this thread said it happened on a replacement unit too.

EDIT: Just done "Reset all settings" under Backup & Reset and it seems to have fixed it as recommended on XDA forums.

Yes. Once you have selected move to SD card and you get the export screen up you have to press the black bar at the bottom of the screen above the back button.
