**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Is that where you went mate?

What's the warranty process with these places?
I went with Tesco Direct, normally I go with Amazon but up to yesterday they still don't have any sold direct from them.

Tesco have 30 day swap out if the unit develops a fault, they do have their own 12 month warranty which I cannot say how good or bad it is as I've not had to use them however you can always go to Samsung.

Good news for anyone with an S7 on Vodafone...the phone's appear to be unlocked :)

Checked mines today with my 3 sim (going abroad shortly) and it worked perfectly with no issue. Thought this info may be helpful to someone.

I've finished my review on Neowin now, just waiting for it to be seen to and released into the wild. I think I've been fair with noting all the little annoyances I've seen on it but thankfully the positives far outweigh the negatives (which are all software related anyway so could be patched).

Paints a very favourable picture of the S7 Edge, I'm so tempted. But I have the Note 5, so do I need the S7 Edge?

I used to have the Note 2 and Note 3 in the past and loved those!

Even though the Note 5 not being sold in the UK was annoying, the specs didn’t tempt me at all since it has no card slot, no IPX rating and was 5.7”, having owned the Nexus 6P and finding it just a tad too big, I know I’d have not enjoyed it as much as I am the S7 Edge.

That’s my own personal usage though!

Caved in and gone for the Edge. Purchased from Amazon, they seem to have quite a bit of stock now, over the last few weeks I've been keeping an eye on their stock levels, they were really struggling to keep the Edge in stock. Seems like they are now limiting purchases to one device per customer.

Should be delivered this evening if all goes well.

Goodbye Z3 Compact! :D

It arrived with the seal broken and the phone used to hell.

Parcelforce collected it and it has now "disappeared".

I had the exact same issue. Complained to O2 got a 2nd one sent out and then the driver decided to break the seal in front of my dad to make sure that i was returning everything that's meant to be in the box. Didn't complain this time round as the phone was perfect but thought it was really strange

The Whitepages feature is really nice, just had a number call now and it notified me it was a scam or fraudulent call, they rang twice and hung up. Checked the number online and that is what they do, ring twice before hanging up hoping you ring back on their premium number.

Blocked the ****ers now but its nice to see that feature working.

Awesome review, had a quick read through will read it properly later. Still on the fence about getting this, love everything about my 6p apart from the size, and Samsungs software would annoy me.

Gotta try one out to see if you like it or not. Previous Samsung phones have always been rooted for my uses and a custom ROM put on. The S6 and now S7 change all that with an approach that's pleasing.

Indeed! I was a Truecaller user but recently learned of how they upload your entire contacts list to their database as well as your own and opting out on their website has a http500 error... With whitepages being baked in, it's a nice way to sack off those questionable actions from apps like Truecaller.

I have both an S7E and a N6P and the size is the only thing that really bugs me about the N6P. It's a great phone otherwise. However, being obsessed with the shiny shiny I went ahead and bought an S7E.

I have to say that it's the most comfortable phone I've used. The size is perfect and the in-hand feel is like holding liquid glass. It sits nicely in my pocket instead of almost poking out like my 6P. So it's a decent improvement in terms of size.

The software isn't quite as streamlined as stock Android but there are some handy features in there and some improvements too. It's fast and there is little lag. With a Material theme it looks pretty good too. It's certainly not annoying to me, but YMMV.

The main thing that makes me question keeping this phone is the state of Android updates. I know that my 6P will get the N update within a couple of weeks of it launching. The S7E may not get it for 6 months if Samsung's track record is any indication. As a total Android nerdlinger, that really bugs me - but the S7E is just so nice that I don't really want to send it back either.

TL;DR - yes the S7E is better, but how much better it is depends on your love for stock Android and getting updates. And your bank balance. The N6P is probably better value overall. With the S7E you're paying a premium price, but you are getting a premium product.
