**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Facebook app isn't a battery hog. Neither Android not GSam have ever registered Facebook above 1% for the total battery drain at the end of the day.

For example, after 9 hours since being off charge my phone is showing Facebook using 0.1% battery power. In the app I have all notifications turned on.

So people are doing something wrong if Facebook is eating battery!

did you side load that? it's not on uk store and I want to try it on my smashs7

Yup it's on APKmirror. I have gone back to stock as of this morning though. The stock SystemUI is just smoother and when wireless charging the pulldown doesn't show the "Charging wirelessly: xx minutes left" notification whereas it does on stock.

I will try it again in the next update once they have put that back and brought the smoothness to stock levels. Also once they've added a Material theme as the bright colours are a bit off putting given I am using the Material dark system theme :p

It's a great view into what Samsung are doing though and the options now available to owners of these devices as they can change the system UI without root, something not possible on any other phone.

Alright got an update on the stand situation with bundled charger and cable from. MobileFun. The first batch of samples they had were USA stock and those come with the charger and cable. The European stock from Samsung does not come with anything other than the charger stand on its own and come as Chapelhall shows in his pic above, just basic packaging.

This is a damn shame IMO and I don't know why Samsung have made this decision. My review has not yet gone live so I've got time to update it with this information.

Looking for some app advice. Ive been using 'Silence premium' to automatically mute my phone during meetings however it uses the in built 'calendar', which my Nexus 5 had, the S7 doesnt have this and uses Samsungs 'S Planner' which silence premium cant see and its therefore not muting my phone automatically based on my calendar. Any workarounds or suggestion for alternative apps?

Can't you just add Google Calendar, or will silence premium not allow you to select which calendar it uses?

I got impatient while waiting for the stand version to come out so I ordered the previous flat Samsung official fast wireless charger (i.e the one that came out for the S6 Edge+), it also did not come with the wall charger when most reviews on US based websites said that theirs did.

I think it's a cost-cutting measure by Samsung in the UK and it's a bit crappy since the charger needs to be a fast charger in order for the faster wireless charging to work on these bases. It's not as if Samsung is discounting the UK version despite the wall charger not being included.

Personally I'd use an Aukey qc2.0 charger with it anyway as the power output is closer to 15W whereas the Samsung adaptive fast charger is around 13W max from my testing. The Aukey costs a tenner. Still a bummer Samsung neglect us EU folks...

I watched a few you tube reviews showing & saying about the UK version comeing with no wall charger or USB cable and is also in very cheap packaging...
And I bet Samsung charge the same price for both of them...:(

I can't tell if that's a late April Fools or if its just my lack of Android knowledge but I can't find where to download this?

Open Galaxy apps on your phone and you should see a banner for this game pack slightly down the screen. Not sure I'm interested though, not checked them all but thought most of these were free games with in app purchases anyway.

Im also using 'Light Manager' to stop the LED flashing at night however it seems to come on fine at the scheduled time but halfway through the night i get woken up by a flashing LED, again any suggestions for an app that works? Ive seen Lightflow mentioned but would like to know if it works/can has this function before i splash out on it.

thanks in advance.

I use Sound Profile which automatically will change volumes and other settings by whatever time you set. You can very quickly manually change from normal, quiet etc to night or silent mode if going into a meeting or appointment.

Just applied a full body shield to the front, back and sides of the S7 edge - not gonna bother with a case. Had the same on my Note 4 and never dropped it so fingers crossed. Looks and size are not compromised with the invisible shield but it does give it a slightly more rubbery feel, but I suppose that also gives it a bit more grip. A lot of patience required to fit it, took me about half an hour and looks as though their are loads of bubbles initially. Let it dry overnight and now you can barely tell its on. Very highly recommended but as I said, A LOT of patience needed to fit it. Got mine from here: http://www.ultimateshield.co.uk/

I disagree. I've never seen Facebook show up in the battery use list either, but I wonder if it using location services shows in System use, rather than the app use?

Many, many people have reported since removing Facebook and using a web based version, they get much longer battery life.

I couldn't be entirely sure, but I think mine's been better since disabling it.

If it used location services then it would show up in the battery screen under that field in GSam.

I too uninstalled it for a week and ran FB via the web browser and noted no real world difference in battery consumption. I genuinely think those with the consumption issues just have phones that consume a lot of power with certain apps like Facebook. Neither my Sony or Samsung have had this issue.

These sort of internet hit claims of battery consumption always make me curious and I try it out for myself. Sometimes they are well founded, but from my experience there is no evidence I have seen that suggests that the current Facebook app drains a battery more than one would expect.

Edit*
Wireless stand review now up!

Entirely possible. I'd like to see this happen. Sony's Concept was excellent and retained the OEM tweaks like the superior camera app to stock Android. So I'm looking forward to this.

Indeed it used to be a notorious battery killer but does appear to behave itself far better now. Don't know wether that's she to marshmallow or Facebook finally coding it properly but it is a lot better than it was.

I have to store all my music on the internal storage because the app I need to use to send the music to my car stereo can't see the music files when there on the SD card on my SG7 edge....:(

Hoping there going be an update for this app to fix this as I never had this problem with my SG3 & SG4
Is there a reason you're not naming which app we're talking about?
