**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I always root stuff right after i get them (Note 2/3/4,Shield TV,S7) not had a problem yet.

I also buy phones outright and not through contract if that makes any difference.

No you can install twrp with orginial firmware, Follow the XDA TWRP post and it explains it pretty well.

Ah I remember now. I ended up using cf auto root because no matter what I did, during the flash I couldn't boot to recovery before booting up.

Gotta say, wireless charging has really taken off for me. It's so much more convenient sitting at the desk at home or work, or going to bed and placing the phone on the pad/stand. Even if it's for 30 mins. A little quick charge top up goes a long way.

I had a issue like that where it would just load up as normal and if you tried to go into recovery it was the default recovery.

It says hold volume up and home near the end of the flash but you need to hold volume up + home + power button.

Yeah to say it got annoying was an understatement! Maybe I'll try again, but i can't be bothered to lose my data. I only want xposed and if flashify works then I'll be happy, will report back later.

I always find these posts so amusing. People start with saying "wireless, meh, who needs it, cable is fine" and then they actually use it and all of a sudden it's the best thing sinxe sliced bread. :D

Oooh, just had my first Whitelist protected call......phone rings with Scam or Fraud showing as the caller, with the number below. Very exciting :)

Googled the number and seems it is a car accident compensation type thing, so appears the functionality in the S7 edge is quite natty

Does that use Googles Caller ID system or something else? I have it on my 6P and its very handy, calling the takeaway and it shows up on screen the opening hours etc! :D

Im not getting notifications for things as i was on my nexus 5 even though notifications are turned on, any ideas?

Example, i have the amazon prime app and ordered something and then send out notifications to the app when its out for delivery and when delivered, i received neither on my S7. I also have a home automation app that ha geo-fencing and vibrates when entering/exiting an area around my house, this worked fine on my nexus 5, again im not getting the notifcations on my S7 even though they are turned on.

This has now fixed itself. I hadnt turned my phone off since getting it and on a re-start i noticed that some app went into optimisation. Everything is now working ok.

Result! Had my o2 loyalty discount of £2 carried over to my new contract which isn't standard procedure.

Note 4 sold for £200, old contract paid off for £164 leaving me with some change.

S7 edge FREE 3gb data/unlimited texts & calls
£31.50 a month (-£2 discount)
Under £30 a month! What a deal.

They want £3.50 for an extra 2gb data and £8.50 for an extra 7gb. Gonna stick to 3gb for a while and see how I go.

Yes the handset was free. Unfortunately the offer has now expired, it was only on for a few hours, I posted it in here as soon as I saw it and ordered 2 handsets - one for myself and one for my wife.

I'm now paying under £30 a month. Managed to get my Note 4 on a very similar deal and also my phones prior to that. I'd never buy a handset outright when these sorts of offers ALWAYS pop up.

Don't think so, as the Google caller ID system is great, and this isn't....

Do many people have any issues with the screen scratching I noticed this week on mine near the right edge there's a long perfectly straight but very faint scratch, now I'm pretty sure it's not something I've done as I'm very careful with my phones, I only noticed it when the sun was shining on the screen. Now I always get screen protectors on my phones but ordered a panzerglass premium edge screen protector a couple of days after i got the phone, but it still hasn't came. Now I spoke to samsung regarding the scratch who said I will have to send it back to get a replacement but also said I had to return the vr headset now I was hoping my local samsung shop would replace the screen as the first person I spoke to said they would but when i phoned them again there saying I will have to pay £220, now I'm not sure what to do if to just leave it as it is as it's very faint but surely paying £640 and a screen being damaged isn't good enough, personally I've found the Samsung customer service poor as when on the phone they kept putting me through do different departments and telling me different things has anyone else had any issues ?

Thanks

Samsung customer services from my experience is absolutely diabolical. If it's a very faint scratch though as you say I don't see how that warrants a screen replacement!?

Dammit, missed it, but thanks for posting...
