**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

For me Vodafone seems to be the way forward for the Edge, 10gb contract (£29 upfront) and £40 per month (with 20% discount)

Total on 24 months = £989.

Even if I buy the handset outright, it's still cheaper in contract:

Phone: £639
10gb Vodafone Sim = £16 per month with discount
Total on 24 months: £1023.

as anyone else pre ordered from samsung? what your main status say?

mine says not processed. but they taken the money yesterday night.

does it get processed when they get the stock?

I believe that that is only a pre-authorization on your card and it will only get charged when they send your order and that is when it is shown as processed.

Anyone waiting on a colour that's not Gold or Black better give up hope. According to a member who works for Samsung over on XDA the Silver version is not coming to the UK nor is the White Frost. We're stuck with the Gold or Black and the Exynos chip.

I don't know what Samsung are playing at limiting the colour range and chip availability to different regions. There are those of us out there who like to tinker and install different ROMS but are limited due to the processor being used.

Great device but Samsung haven't thought this one through properly.

CPW attempted to take payment from my card this morning. Looks like they take payment right away then. Card was declined due to fraud prevention. Authorised it with Barclays and now have to re-order it.

Such faff.

currently have a s6 edge 64gb sim free, and a sucker for new stuff, the s7 edge seems to interst me for its battery size and 5.5 inch in such a compact size , but carphone warehouse for VR is not clear

*Samsung Galaxy Gear VR (Virtual Reality) Headset available on all Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge pre orders only, RRP £79.99 correct at time of going to print.

but if you click the terms
Deliveries of the VR for SIM free pre-orders Online will be delivered separate to handset deliveries and may take up to 5 days after you receive your handset.

this is so confusing still being told its only comes with contract deals

I must say, it sucks that there are no 64GB modely for pre-order... it's 2016, surely they can do that pretty damn cheaply and easily by now.

Even with installing apps to SD I have run into space issues on 32GB devices.

Do you really think that Samsung make decisions based on the tiny minority who like to "tinker with phones and install different ROM's"? Realistically they don't think twice about this.

just called samsung and the guy said they not in the free gear vr promotion in uk at the moment but he said they will be having a meeting today to sort out if they can join and then all customers who already pre ordered a s7 / edge from samsung will be offered a free gear vr.

CPW rep on livechat is telling me the free Gear VR is only for pre-orders of contract handsets and not sim free.

What is this nonsense?

The wording in the T&C bit states all pre-orders of the S7/Edge. Is sim free not a pre-order then?

Also talks about delivery for SIM free pre-orders:

CPW are getting worse :(

CPW are ridiculous. Spent 20 minutes on the phone explaining this and one woman said yes they should be able to add it as a free gift as she can see a pre-order includes it so would pass me through to the sales team and explain the situation. She said my existing order would need to be cancelled and a new order placed with the free gift added.

So got passed to the sales people who said they cannot add it as the option is not there for sim free orders.

I had enough. I said I wanted to cancel and so I was put on hold to be passed to the customer services dept who will cancel it.

21 minutes in and someone there picked up. I gave the order number, she asked what network it was for, I said it's sim free, as per the order details... She then asked if I was in store, I replied it was an online order, hence the order number...

I was then told it cannot be cancelled until I receive the 2nd email in an hour or so.

So over 20 minutes on the phone wasting time talking to people who can't do jack all, who don't know jack all and who simply bounce you around from department to department.

A joke of a retail company.

This has bothered me to the point of not wanting to pre order at all now. I will cancel, sack off the "free" VR and simply order the S7 Edge once the price has gone down after a month or so and buy the VR headset with Gear 360 off somewhere I can use Quidco and Amex cashback for the whole lot.

How can CPW make shopping for a damn phone so difficult?

Strictly speaking it sounds like it's been very easy to buy the phone, but it's only gone pear shaped when you wanted to change it :p

Not that spending ages on the phone is particularly entertaining...

I just wanted the free Gear VR which the site says is included with all pre-orders of the S7/Edge! Sim Free purchases are pre-orders too, yet according to them it's not :/

Oh well, their loss.
