**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

It not a big change or improve as it much same as s6 as s7 just upgrade some add and bring back SD cards slot.. No difference also save yer money for next one due next year or wait for new note 6 due in August. I'm keep my s6 edge cos it good one as it now upgraded to 6.0.1 marshmallow today look nice changed feature and new edge apps... I won't buy s7 cos no point from s6 to s7 cos it much same but s6 is 20 grams lighter than s7

What's the point of the poll? Surely the question "do you want something worth £80 for free or not" isn't going to elicit much response other than the patently obvious.

Indeed, and also the fact that people are happy to order regardless probably tells them all they need to know.

I understand the excitement for new tech, but can't help but feel a lot of questions will be answered if people wait a few days. By then you might know if Samsung UK will be offering the headset deal, carphonrwarehouse may have sorted their arses from their elbows, and Amazon UK may have pre-order up (which could include the headset)

I've ordered a normal S7 through the Samsung upgrade program for the wife for her birthday. Currently I have a UK contract with ee that my mum uses and I take the new phones and she has my hand me downs. The wife pays for both our German sim only contacts. The EE contract is due upgrade in 2 weeks so plan is.

Normal s7 for wife and edge for me next month.
In a year I will take the upgrade from Samsung and she can have my edge till we both hit the 24 month point in which case she will probably get the S9 or whatever it is and I will have the choice again on the EE contract to choose whatever phone I want.
Also she changes her phone every year on her birthday. One year it's my old one the next year it's new.

Ok just got off the phone with EE for my upgrade...

S7 Edge Black

20GB 4G EXTRA

£35/m 24 months + £50 for the phone
£890

Happy days.

Did it take much haggling? Does that include the gear vr?

@Mrk do you know if the upgrade program sales include the vr headset?

Saw no mention of it so don't think so. £606 for the Edge so I'm fine with that. The Z5 is still new so that would fetch decent coin on the MM I bet so I'd not really be spending a huge amount of my own money for this upgrade really.

I'm unsure if the upgrade program is actually any decent. The numbers seem sound and it means a new Galaxy every 12 months but you're locked into a 24 month contract going this route.

Anyone gone for this?

Also, 5.05% cashback via TopCashback buying from Samsung direct, so I think I will just order it early and go this way. the Edge works out £606 this way if I opt to just buy outright instead of using the upgrade program.

tbh the upgrade program is a good idea in one sense but theres one problem if damage the phone or it gets scratches, scuffs, marks, they won't accept it back. from now till next year you have no idea what will happen to the phone.

also it says you have to send the same phone back, not a different one. so i guess they take the serial number of the phone

Anandtech results are interesting, they're comparing against the SN820 test device so not that conclusive.

Regardless I'm disappointed in Exynos 8890, they provide services for gamers but give us a GPU that can't deliver.

I'll probably hold onto my Galaxy S6 for another 6 months, also I don't want a 32GB device.

Not impressed.

"GPU that cant deliver".

LOL

Anandtech noted "slighty" behind the 820.
Furthermore the 820 benchmarks they compared too were based off the developer devices not actual retail devices and so as they said

"Some quick GPU benchmarks also put the Exynos 8890 slightly behind the Snapdragon 820 in the MDP/S. We will still have to see if actual Snapdragon 820 devices are able to deliver the same performance as the MDP/S platform as there might be some thermal limitations coming into play. Again, we can't comment too much on the scores before we get to know each device's long-term performance and if the attained numbers are sustainable for long periods of time."

Cool story brah.

Heavier because the battery is bigger.

Yup that's the one problem I see with it. Even with insurance if the phone gets damaged and replaced they seem to say they won't accept that back.

CPW better make sure my SIM free order gets a free gear VR as their website and T&C specifically mention sim free orders.
Probably just some nuggets on the helpdesk phones giving out the wrong advice.
If not I'm going to take my new phone to the local shop and disrupt business so much they will give me one to leave!! :D
