**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I cracked mine a few months ago and also cracked my new one which ill be claiming on the insurance soon as ive made it worse today. The quotes i got around 3 months ago was £250 and the LCD was intact. It sounds like they was just going to replace the glass and LCD but they cant guarantee water-proofing either.

I went to 2 shops locally to get quotes and it was same. In fact, little higher at £300. Think the S7 Edge screen is pricey even without factoring in LCD part which isn't being replaced/fixed for me. Managed to claim £200 on insurance. Hopefully that won't impact my 4 years no claims by much. So basically paying £100 for it to be done.

Last update is an absolute mess.

Wi-Fi dropping.
Keyboard less sensiti e. Ha, point proven!
Predictive text unreliable.
Keyboard wot go away.
Message conversations starting in a random place not the most recent message.
Battery life cut in half.
Not getting some message alerts at random.

Total crap.

Need a good case for S7 Edge. Ideally black. Have been using the official Samsung clear view cover but it didn't do much to protect the side of the screen from a recent drop. Ideally want something that has bumper style edges that also protects the back and perhaps has an actual cover too to allow for the transparent screen notifications etc to be visible.

Talked to an old friend of mine who works for ee still and seems the problems I'm having are known issues.
The battery thing being the most commonly reported followed by the keyboard staying up.

To be honest I dont know, I dont use any glass protection, still scratch free after this time too.

Yeah might not bother with tempered glass. I don't have any scratches. Figure the case was at fault more than anything as it doesn't protect edges very well so the drop caused a crack. Doubt it would have happened with a neo hybrid judging by the pics. Kinda want a flip cover though! Do spigen do one with it?

I only see one for the S7 (none for S7 Edge). I will just go for case I think. Tempered glass is designed to protect from scratches I guess more than actual drops?

Same... Although battery life has taken a swift dive lately :/

Me too, although I have to say the phone still gives a good SoT but it seems to really suffer in standby compared with in the past.

That being said, I've noticed a distinct pattern, particularly with Samsung handsets where they seem to get steadily worse with each (late) update. The software isn't the most polished at the best of times, but much like MS with Windows, they seem good at adding features without fixing some of the old bugs, or worse, introducing new ones.

I must admit, the S7E has been an OK phone for me, but I doubt I'll be going for another Samsung any time soon, in fact, the update situation alone (lets not mention the bloat or needless modifications and additions) for me now dictates that I will likely go for pure Android or iOS in the future. Samsung seems like a company that wants to give a glimpse into the future with little consideration given to polish and make good what we have NOW - kind of the opposite of Apple who are slow at giving new features but when they do, they tend to work and work well.

mine has been rubbish for a while, I mean when I got it was 5-6hrs now I'm happy to get 3-4 :/ nothing is actually keeping it awake! tempted to go custom rom and see if I can get some battery savings but it's a bit of a pita flashing it..

I'm looking at getting an S7 edge next month, really hope the prices drop a tad with the S8 coming out.

The best deal that I could find (on EE) was MobilePhonesDirect - £26 monthly, £100 upfront for a 5GB unlimited texts/calls. I spoke to EE direct to see if they could match it, the closest she could get was £31 monthly with £200 upfront...

Anyone got the S7 Edge backpack? bought one from the outlet, looks new, been charging it for the last 5 hrs, only 2 lights lit on it, think it has 4 lights, 1 is solid white , other flashing white.

is it charging???

I was watching this S8 camera review and realised a few things about the S7 camera in the process (same app, same settings, same camera...):

The review pointed out something I didn't really pay close attention to before, when shooting in pro mode on the S7, click record video to record in video with pro mode, and if you set the white balance to "K", then make sure it's at 6500K, which results in a much more accurate white balanced based on normal daylight, even indoors.

I also use the custom tone mode in natural by sliding the highlights slider all the way down, and the shadows slider one notch down and saving that.

I also set the metering mode from matrix, to Centre weighted. This stops the camera from metering for the scene as he mentions in the review, and meters for the surrounding area around the centre where the subject will commonly be.

Now my pictures and videos taken in Pro mode retain highlight detail, as well as a hint of VSCO with that tiny bit of fade from reducing the shadows slider in the custom tone mode a single notch. This gives a pleasing cinematic look I feel.

Right, I've swapped my S6 Edge for an S7 Edge and transferred everything over. However, my home screen wallapaper on the S6 looks loads better than it does on the S7. The blacks are a lot more darker on the S6, but I can't seem to see if any settings are different. It is completely different. The S7 screen honestly looks rubbish compared.

What's going on?

What colour profile have you got set on the S7 in comparison to the S6? Also, what's the resolution of the wallpaper?
