**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Do we reckon there are likely to come down in price any time soon with the S8 having been launched? Need a new phone and was going to get the S8 but I'm not paying £700 for a phone. Don't want to get an S7 now and then see them drop in price in a few weeks once the S8 hype settles down.

Don't think S7 prices will come any more down until around Christmas time now, they've already dropped massively and u can get phone+plan for basically price of the phone (£20-28'ish x24) if you look around.

Where do 'Android System' and 'Android OS' sit under your recent battery usage at the end of a day? Mine are practically always at the top even surpassing the Screen on occasions which doesn't seem right.

Similar reports stated here: http://www.gottabemobile.com/how-to-fix-bad-nexus-android-nougat-battery-life/

Android System is 3rd in the list at 11% and Android OS 4th with 6%

I wouldn't say mine was really any better since the factory reset so not sure I'd advise it overall. It more or less seems the same as before. As others say it seems hammering it and getting 5 or 6 hours SOT is still easily doable but it just seems to run out quicker than you expect with light usage, even with the AOD turned off.

Cheers for the feedback on that. I was considering a factory reset today, but I thought I'd try disabling my location service/gps first. I might be speaking too soon but battery life is looking a lot more like it used to be so maybe there's something weird going on with that - too early to tell at this point though. Bluetooth I keep off anyway until I need it.

It's not the mediaserver.exe issue you get with S7 battery drain woes. It can be linked to a bad thumbnail or unreadable media. The mediaserver process goes into hyper trying to scan the media and kills the battery.

Most UK networks will run down their stock over next 2 quarters. It's more efficient to go medium on stock decreases from Samsung from my dealings with them. The shock drop is already out there but if you're not looking for maximum return then midrange / oppo handsets are going to be a better bet.

Apologies if this has been covered already, but how scratched are your home buttons?

I've only had mine a few months, but it is scratched to **** - also a small chip in it  I don't use a case, but I am fairly careful.

Wondering if I have a dodgy one? It's a dual SIM import from the ME.

Had mine just over a year now, home button still in perfect condition. It does sit in my trouser pocket facing inwards with nothing else in my pocket though.

OK, trying to take a screenshot on my phone and apparently it's prevented by the security policy. Googling shows something about Faceprovider having frozen or been uninstalled but I don't think I've done any of these things and I'm not in private mode either. Any ideas? It's a stock, unlocked S7 from Sky Mobile.

I've never see one scratched till I seen the one a samsung rep was using. Looked horrible.

Noticed the other day that the class around my camera lens is cracked in one corner. Fairly sure I've seen someone else on here with the same issue. It's not affecting anything so I'm not getting it fixed, but it's still winding me up more than it should!

Thinking about a non-edge one of these. Coming from a Note4 it should be an ok upgrade. OR I go for the S8 but not sure I want to pay that sort of money.

My housemate got one and it's a decent phone and really cheap now but as note4 user as well the screen felt too small and it didn't feel like enough of an upgrade for some reason. I'm keeping my eye on the s8 instead and also considering oneplus3t which can be had really cheap.

Is there a V2 of these? my S7 edge has cracked at the other edge now, its terrible and thinking about going down my insurance route to get it replaced now but dont want another edge if not, the new advert thats out suggests there is?

Do you mean the Galaxy S8? http://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-s8/

It only comes with a curved edge screen now in two sizes (5.8" and 6.2"). If you want a flat screen then it's the Galaxy S7 or something else (OnePlus 3T, Google Pixel, etc)

And has anyone who got Nougat last month with the January security patch (FXXUDQB3), now received the February security patch update? I keep manually checking but not getting any update...

Hey,

Still stuck on Jan security patch here (albeit on Nougat 7.0). Got a notification saying there was an update, but when I check it says I'm on the latest software version (G935FXXU1DQB1 for my dual SIM G935FD).

Anyone else having the same issue? Is there any way I can "sideload" the OTA like on Nexus devices?

Cheers,

Su

[EDIT] Checked now and it randomly worked... sort of! Updated to Feb security patch (G935FXXU1DQC4). Is there a later version? Assume we should be on at least March?

Working fine for me.
