**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Thinking about returning mine. You have 14 days to return it right no questions asked with carphone warehouse? I adore the phone but the left side of the screen has the red tint and the right side of the screen doesn't so its a little annoying when looking on white webpages to constantly see that. I don't see how a software fix is going to fix a tiny that's on one side of the screen only.

Ask for a replacement, thats what I'm doing when more stock arrives on the 28th

Swapped to the Official Silicone cover now to give that a few days and see what I prefer compared to the Clear Cover. :)

Is anyone put a launcher on their S8 yet? This is the first Samsung device where I've not even been tempted to do so. I guess it's because they got rid of that brutal app drawer button placement and well...it looks much better than usual!

I would be surprised if firmware could fix it... but yes my firmware is add while yours is aqc9.

I called WE tech support, they give next day delivery with UK MAIL despite me calling at 12pm.

Regarding my Spiegel case, I have noticed it has slacked at the volume rockers and is no longer flush, this may be because of the times I took it off.... is there a way of tightening it?

I have started to feel that the battery life is going to disappoint. I'm on 50pc brightness and going to struggle to hit 5 hours SoT with mixed usage (no gaming, mostly surfing on wifi). I have no idea how some review sites are reporting stuff like 12 hours of video on one charge.

5 hours screen time isn't enough for me, irrespective of whether or not it can charge quickly.

Christ, let the phone build its cache, calibrate the battery indicator and optimise for your usage.

Jesus.

Also available signal, makes a huge difference. Low signal means more amplification and more power.

I noticed it doesn't apply to headphones, only Bluetooth devices. I've not had it enabled for long, but so far I don't get the usual warning when selecting maximum bluetooth volume on the phone.

Hmm will give it another test later and see then

Just to check I want to turn ON the DISABLE option, right?

It could just work out of the box. I'd much prefer that, since I've already had to spend about 4 hours tracking down a toggle hidden in developer options that was stopping any of my google apps loading data over wifi, though I appreciate that isn't the phone's problem.

I'd be ecstatic if its calibrations added 50pc to the battery's longevity but it's not going to happen realistically.

What made you think 7.5 hours sot is a reality?

From everything I've read, nothing today comes close to an iPhone 7 in terms of battery life but if I could read it so could anyone else ;)

Gsmarena reckon 12 hours of web browsing and 16 hours of video on an S8+. I always do my homework before forking out on expensive electronics.

My iPhone 7 had horrendous battery life with the app combination I used (the 6S was better in that regard) and the S8 so far I would say bests it.

Well I guess we didn't read the same articles, I saw just north of 8hrs for the S8. Maybe give it a couple of days.

Again it all just depends on what apps you use...Pokemon Go (I know I know) absolutely kills the iPhone 7 yet the S8 handles it a lot better. Similarly I've found the drain while listening to music through the iPhone speakers awful for some reason, compare that to the S8 I find it much better :)

Horses for courses.
