Whats the process if I'm currently with ee and I upgrade via a 3rd party "mobilephonesdirect" to another ee deal, do I port from one sim to the other?

Am I missing out on much by setting default image size in the camera to 16:9 (9.1M) - 4032x2268 vs 4:3 (12M) 4032x3024??

16:9 is a more traditional shape image, but not sure on the quality impact? Can't remember what my S6 Edge had

The 12M sensor is 4:3 ratio, so if you want to change the ratio to 16:9 the image is just being cropped - quality shouldn't be affected.

I prefer 16:9 as well, but to be honest you may as well leave it at the full 12M and crop it yourself.

As long as you are using an, 'Upgrade' deal, it works the same as upgrading with the network. In my case, continuing to use my existing SIM, so I just moved it to the new phone.

If it's a regular deal, not upgrade specific, it will just start a new contract with a new number.

Cropping yourself comes with the added benefit you can crop to 3:2 which is normal photo aspect of you wanted to print and frame anything.

Yes it will be via the upgrade section, are mobilephonesdirect a good company to go with, I've never used 3 parties just got direct but ee can't give me anywhere near this offer

No idea about mpd personally but I've had excellent service from Carphone Warehouse when I got my Z3 last time around and mobiles.co.uk for my S8 this time. Looks like a few people have used mpd in this thread though without any issues.

EE directly are appalling, they wanted £550 up front and £40 per month for the 5GB contract I just upgraded to.

Can't see the colour problems on your pics - I am colourblind though lol... had to get family members to check my device for me haha

Anyway, with regards to battery something there doesn't seem right...

By chance as I just checked mine it is actually on 2h26m screen on time also.. Off charge for 11 hours and I am on 54%

I'm going to see how it goes today, it *seems* better so far, I've turned off NFC, nearby device scanning and auto syncing.

Currently 1 hour 40 mins off charge, SoT of 32 mins, 90% which should equate to 5 hour SoT, that's with browsing, Facebook and take some pictures, perhaps it should still be better though.

How much difference does WiFi Vs Cellular have on battery, I'm nearly always in Cellular, yesterday with my usage it involved using it in between York and Manchester and the signal kept on dropping and was using Spotify so maybe that kill's the battery?

Another note, apparently AMOLED can suffer screen burn, someone rekoned the home button on the AOD could cause it with the S8, wonder if this is a possibility?

I'm paying 70 quid a month with 9 quid 99 up front, unlimited texts and mins, 30gb data, unlimited music streaming, free unlimited everything in Europe, the free speaker if i sell that should offset the costs, 60 quid after employeer discount. I'm with o2, s8+

70 quid a month
This is why I buy my phones outright, then I can enjoy the value of sim only/PAYG. Granted I buy 400 quid phones but they're good enough.

Question for you clever people, I had the Google Now widget on my Z3 and when opened it split the news guff into a 'tab' and the stuff it was finding in emails like dispatch notes and flight info in another. On the S8 it's all back in one section mixed together.

How do I make it separate again? May be able to get screen grabs later if that doesn't make sense.

Well think about how much an 30GB 4GEE Max is sim only (actually I think they only go up to 20GB on SIMO, which is £25) and throw an S8+ on top and it's probably not far off that monthly equivalent anyway.

If he was buying phones half the price on contracts with less data then obviously it will be cheaper :p

Sounds like an upgrade? This is why I've never upgraded.

The S8+ is available for new customers on the same contract for £49 a month, no upfront cost, on 3 via affordable mobiles.

I've used nothing but 3rd party sites for several years now and not had a single issue, I always just take out a new contract. You will receive a new SIM with the handset with a new mobile number, in your case it would be a new EE sim. You then ring EE and tell them you want to carry your old number over to your new SIM, you give them both numbers, and it should be as simple as that. That's all I've ever needed to do in the past. PAC code is not required since you're not changing networks.

It's 60 technically,

Well it's technically 60 after the discount and if i sell the speaker and get a good prices I'll be looking at 50 odd which isn't bad. I'm paying slightly extra for the free music streaming and yearly upgrade i think so not too bad, I'd never pay 70 quid for a phone contract.

I suppose with the discount it isn't anywhere near as bad however, just like with car insurance I don't tend to feel any loyalty whatsoever to stay with the same company because every year they try screwing you over, it's the same with phone companies imo. Voda 24gb/30gb contracts were recently available for £40-£45 a month for new customers, that's a substantial saving over 2 yrs compared to what you are paying even with your discount!

I'm only a year into this contract with other o2, it's yearly upgrade, I'd have to wait for the so if i went for a cheaper contract

well day 3, still waiting for a case to arrive so had this thing wrapped in cottonwool basically, had it out the house once, nothing in the pocket with it at all.

Just had a quick look at the back and already I can see 4 faint scratches near the flash lens area :(
