**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Physical home/nav buttons are not part of Android UX guidelines, so get used tot really.

OEMs are starting to allow users to customise the virtual nav buttons also, something that custom ROM users have been able to do for some time on phones without physical buttons.

It also means a cleaner front panel, less bezel and more screen.

I can only see plus points.

Mrk - how do you make the buttons appear/disappear? I couldn't figure it out on the Sony Experia on the home screen and various apps etc.

Then what about task manager? I liked that on the Note 4 you could tap the left physical button to access apps that are in memory.

Also, being partially sighted, I liked the larger keys. The soft keys on the Sony Experia look smaller than my ideal size.

The soft keys are a copy of the layout of physical keys, the task switcher button is there.

You cannot hide the soft buttons by default on the Xperias/Pixels etc. Only apps implementing immersive mode can hide it, for example, in an image viewer you can set it to hide the navbar (soft buttons) and notification bar when viewing an image, or when using a video player, auto hide the navbar. Some apps are immersive by default (Google Play Books etc).

Some third party launchers also allow you to hide the navbar, and swiping up from the bottom edge pops it out.

I highly doubt it will be Micro USB, that's probably just an early schematic the case maker sent. I bet the dimensions are accurate though. Even the latest 2017 A series Samsung phones have USB-C.

Very skeptical about this fingerprint under screen stuff, shall be interesting.

Not a fan of curved screens only, but I guess thats the trend.
