**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

So SwiftKey working fine after a reinstall and a reboot. Reboot seems to sort most things given a chance. So far seems stable enough. Early days for battery.

Oreo beta battery life seems good, pretty similar to Nougat, so I imagine once final comes out, optimisations will yield even better results.

Full view mode is just a shortcut to the 18.5:9 mode in the picture settings. It's useful sometimes but do note that the resolution drops quite a bit as the sensor crops in top and bottom to get the wide aspect ratio. You actually get more in a shot using the max resolution, you can then crop to 18.5:9 or other later on in any image viewer.

Full View just looks cooler when in use really.

Ha, hadn't realised that was what it's doing. It's new though, yeah?

Testing my S8 out today for signal and compared to the iPhones at work (me and them all on EE), the S8 has a vastly better reception. At home, the download speed is a little better than three, upload is halved, but coverage out and about is much better. Fastest speed test over the network so far has been 113.6Mb/s down and 47.7Mb/s upload!

Also very impressed by the camera. A very good all round phone this. :)

I compared my S8 against a moto x style on Vodafone at a marginal signal area. The S8 held onto 4G better than the moto and doesn't drop signal as often. I always thought the moto was good from that point of view.

Overall I'm very happy with the S8. First time I've never worried about a phone battery getting me through the day. Battery doesn't seem to be wearing either. I don't even have an upgrade itch

Ah that explains it :D

I lied about the upgrade itch, I found myself lusting after the Note 8 for a while. The S pen looks useful but then I bought a biro and notepad (made of paper!) and just keep the S8 .... and some money ;)

Solid Explorer works on Oreo beta, just the SD card write permissions doesn't work, so for the time being I have it still installed, but am using Amaze File Manager instead which is actually really really good. Supports the same features as Solid, but with a much more simplified UI, and the built in sftp server is amazing, allows you to send and receive stuff via Windows by simply ftp://IP:PORT from any Explorer window.

Also I am finding that SMB transfer speeds via Amaze is in orders of magnitude faster than Solid and other file managers that support SMB.

Sorry, should have said Solid is working but just can't read the SD card.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll give it Amaze a go.

Otherwise I've not had any other problems to date. Battery is fine and certainly on a par with Nougat. Probably get better. I get a Android System notification that 'Accubattery is running in the background'. Not sure why and can't get rid of it. I kind of know it's running in the background

Just about to upgrade from my Xperia z5 to the S8 :)

Decided to go normal and not s8+, it’s just a little too big for me.

On the Oreo Beta. Seem to have lost the 'expand video' toggle that YouTube had. Not sure why. Now everything is letterboxed on the sides with no option to change it.
