**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

It's a shame cases are still so much needed nowadays when phone design has improved so much. We get this really great hardware only to hide it behind a case from day one.

to be honest, I'm wondering if I could just get a retractable cord from phone to trousers so I can't drop it. I'll never need a case then.

Hi Thomas,

We have submitted your account application with Vodafone who have advised that the application is referred.
This is nothing to worry about as this is quite common and just requires an agent at Vodafone to manually assess your application which will take a little longer.

You do not need to contact us or Vodafone. They will respond to us with a decision for you within their agreed response time of 2 working days. Once we have received a decision on your application you will receive an email confirming your status update. Please note that we cannot ship your order until we receive confirmation that your credit check has been accepted by the network.

Grrr. So annoying. Wonder if it's because I've already got an account with them?

Thinking of making the jump from O2 to Vodafone for this device, as they have good deals, especially on Smart Phone Company. How reliable are Vodafone as a network, 4g coverage etc?

Check their site for coverage checker.

I've been with them for years and never had any issues. They were voted the most reliable network last year as well.

I've ordered through chitterchatter and they said they will despatch on Friday 21st via DPD for delivery on Saturday. Might get it a day earlier directly from Samsung or CPW perhaps.

Order is awaiting handset release (More Info)

Does this mean I've been accepted just waiting for release?

Nothing mate, I've not consistently used one for years. Gorilla Glass has gotten that good now that through normal use I don't get as much as a small scratch on my screens for phones. Don't see the point in them anymore personally.

I don't use cases or protectors for any of phones. My last two phones, HTC 10 and S7 I've managed to scratch both screens. But I don't care, I still wouldn't be using a case.

Yup I think you've gone past the stage of being accepted. I have the same on my order page now (didn't have the dates etc. previously... I ordered on 3rd too - apologies Thomas, I previously said 31st in here, got confused)

Looks like it. Damn you all :p

Hope you get yours sorted OK!

For reference, I also have an existing contract with Vodafone... Which ended a few days ago (has gone onto a rolling monthly until I upgrade/PAC it in :p )

I'm tempted to go without case but knowing my luck I'll probably regret it, when I got my note 4, I've dropped it on the 1st day I got it and messed up all the Alu corners hah.

smartphonecompany.co.uk free handset and £34 per month (After cashback)

Vodafone 24GB of data, unlimited calls and sms

Sounds cheap? Assuming people have ordered with this company and they are legit?

I might cancel my EE contract (expires next month) and port to this deal?

EE want £100 upfront and £45 per month for 5GB of data and unlimited calls and sms

I just don't trust myself with these online cashback companies.

It's BY FAR the best deal out there atm, was very tempted as it's now fallen within my price range (under £35 a month) but I'm still undecided whether I want this or the plus due to its bigger battery. If the above deal was on the plus I'd have ordered already.
