**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Thread ****

I bought my phone from Samsung direct and I noticed the wifi calling wasn't showing (I'm on Vodafone). I tried texting the number that is supposed to turn it on but that didn't work, but a quick call to 191 and they sent something over the air that sorted it. Pretty glad because for some reason for the last few months I have poor Vodafone signal where I live.

To turn it on I went into the dialler and then there is a wifi calling option in the settings, this is what wasn't appearing before Vodafone did something when I called them.

Does anyone use any insurance on their phones? If so who please?

Premium account with banks which also offers travel insurance and car breakdown is what I'd recommend really.

TSB £9.99/m
Nationwide £13.50/m - seem to have the most flexible, i.e. it'll cover family members phones too and afaik you don't need to pre-register the IMEI for it to be covered.

I have it with the Natwest Silver account . You pay an excess think it was £50 (might gone up ) and allowed 2 claims per year

Gone up ages ago, went to 75 now a hundred I believe.

I'm thinking of getting the 9+ on Friday, the pink one, doesn't look too feminine, just the right shade. My contract price will be a couple of quid lower on the S9+ compared to S8+, I'm tied in an extra year but hey ho.

So....find my phone. Kinda needed it today as totally misplaced my S9.

Now, trying to be smart I thought i'd log in to my google account / Find My Phone to get a location or get it to ring. However, upon signing in it asked me to use my phone to confirm access. WTF. I'm glad I found out this way and not having genuinely lost my phone.

Options were;
Confirm on phone
Confirm via SMS
Confirm in another way that make take a few days it said.

How should i have this set up? I don't have a spare tablet or anything else to keep the auth app available and everytime i log in to google it asked me to confirm on my phone.

Have I missed something very stupid here...feels like it.

EDIT: Backup codes of course. Jesus. Ignore.

Lloyds premier account used it a few months ago when I dropped and smashed s8 screen (1st ever damaged phone.....) fixed and returned in 4 days £50 excess still is afaik unless your an apple user then it's £100

Finding the Galaxy S9+ to have a less scratch resistant screen than my S7 weirdly enough.
Tis covered in micro-scratches, fortunately only one barely visible when the screen is lit up.

Definitely gonna put a screen protector on now!
Have made do on all my other phones without one until now.

New S8+ owner here. Mines barely a week old and I've realised one thing - for tempered glass, Whitestone Dome is your only choice however a good fitting case that doesn't push the thing off is something you'll have to also look at.

I have a Dome arriving over the next day or so as it is currently £40 at certain online places :o

I am currently using some Otocon film stuff from amazon and its like the cheapo film back during the 2009 era of phones. It has light texturing so feels horrible. I simply can't use any phone without a second layer of protection really despite looking after my devices really well.

I wish Samsung would stop with the curved glass stuff, either that or Gorilla Glass come up with something less susceptible to scratches as I've been hearing the same promises for over a decade.

Absolutely true about the whitedome and cases!! I applied the whitedome absolutely perfect, was so hyped and it looked stunning. I later then applied my otterbox case....lovely, however half hour later the bloody thing had lifted the edges very slightly, why on earth whitedome didn't foresee this and make the screen protector that bit smaller to be case friendly is beyond me.

This is what I'm totally dreading. What did you do afterwards?

It isn't the case per se doing this but the way you apply the case as it can apply slight upwards pressure to the glass.

I've no doubt fitting the glass will go well when mine arrives possibly tomorrow. Fitting the Spigen Neo Hybrid some 12 hrs later will be sheer torture as there's a 50/50 chance it'll loosen the glass.

I'm just living with it until someone comes up with a compatible glass screen protector. Amazon did send me a free replacement so I have got that for future.

starting to get pretty annoyed with the call cutting out every so often now, was on a phone call to a mate earlier and it did it about 4 times in a 20 min call for about 5-10s each time, going to do a factory reset but if that doesn't fix it a call to Barclaycard will :)

I've been using a 9+ for Just over a week now as my pixel 2 xl is in for repair and I'm sick of it. YouTube performance is poor, browsing the web seems to have some weird delay when fetching results (Not on wifi) and calls dropping while on the phone.

Just taken posession of a Coral Blue S9+, 128GB, 6GB RAM, nice one! Haven't used it yet properly but it's much snappier, screen seems a little better and I think overall for 2-3 quid less a month it's a good phone.

Got the dome this morning. I won't lie - first attempt went totally wrong as no provisions have been made on the holding jig for properly holding the glass in place (they've revised the installation method, so a lot of the online vids are outdated). So upon gently placing the glass into the jig, to my horror it just dropped in and totally missed the little plastic clip it is meant to rest on!

Took the glass off, gave it a good clean along with my S8+ and tried again, which then went well. I am just letting it dry now and tomorrow I'll have a Spigen Neo Hybrid delivered...attaching that is where things could really go wrong :o

Maybe going to have to invest in one myself. Had an S8 for a year and not a mark on the glass. Had the S9+ a few weeks and I've got a small scratch on the glass.

Other than that and call cut outs all is ok with the S9+. Call cutting is very annoying and need to contact Samsung about it. Doesn't do it all the time but when it does is a pain. Doesn't drop the call. Wasn't sure it was rural telecoms at first but too many reporting it. Battery is fine for me and no probs getting through the day. OS is slick enough and no problems browsing (Opera) or with YouTube etc. Speakers are good for what they are. Call quality is good - when not call cutting. Intermittent fault for some reason. So mostly pleased with it

Much faster than my S8+, also better audio, stereo is good, clearer audio than iPhone X but less bass... Camera ok, selfie camera is annoyingly blurry? Always seems photoshopped even without all the correction stuff on, aside from that good phone, battery life is poorer than my S8+ though

I have installed a Whitestone Dome on both S8+ and S9+ and have to say as long as you look at and follow the online videos you should be ok.
These are probably the only screen protectors that fit the curved screen at the moment, the price is a but rich but I guess a new screen would hurt my pocket more.

Well the Dome has been on my S8+ for exactly 5 days now, along with a Spigen Neo Hybrid case (avoid - 2 part construction is poor) and I have no issues with it coming loose so far. The oleophobic coating on the glass is rubbish though as there are fingerprints all over the place. The quality and smoothness of the glass is unlike any TGSP I've used before I must admit.

Be aware that Whitestone have revised the installation method of the glass so most online videos are incorrect. The procedure no longer uses the 'bushing' for screwing in the adhesive tube and instead utilises a wide 'bridge' fyi.
