**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Thread ****

Yes same here on ard1. Still get call cuts. One fella I call frequently I get a lot of cutting out and eventually drops the call. If he phones me then the phone works fine without any call cutting?? Strange one? I am starting to notice it's often the case when I initiate the call but will need to take more notice to be sure. It's ridiculous samsung hadn't done anything about it yet unless it's a hardware problem. Otherwise phone is great.

i've never actually had a dropped call, but have had call cut outs on both incoming and outgoing :(

Probably just coincidence regards the incoming calls. Its very random and doesn't happen on all calls. Annoying when it does and you keep having to ask the person you're calling to repeat themselves. I'm rural and always had dropped calls, mostly at home but doesn't happen all that often and regardless of what phone I've had. The call cutting in and out is a new issue since I got the S9 plus.

Received my S9 today. Can anyone recommend a good cover or case ?

I've been using a Spigen Tough Armour. Provides reasonable protection and doesn't add too much bulk. I've also used a Ringke case on previous phone and quite liked it so bought a Ringke Onyx Protective Cover (case). I think I prefer it to the Spigen. Not quite as bulky and slightly more comfortable to hold. Both provide some grip to what is a slippery phone. Not sure why more phones are having a glass backs? Personally not keen on glass backs really.

I've got a Dome Glass to fit. Was about to fit it last weekend and noticed I'd been sent one for the Note 8. Sent it back and now have the correct one! Hoping the Ringke case doest lift the edges once applied.

Really quite disappointed with the S9 now, coming from an HTC U11. First, the battery life is about half the U11 in real use, I struggle to get 12 hours a day which isn't enough for me considering I leave the house at 6:30am and get home at 7:30pm some days. Secondly, I don't like using phone cases as it always felt like I'm hiding the whole design of the phone just to keep it looking perfect for the next owner. But it's really impossible to use the S9 with the edge screen without one (maybe I have sausage fingers?). Things like scrolling not working because a bit of my finger is touching the edge. So now I have a rubber case which takes away the look of the whole phone.

I was really hoping this would be a phone I would keep for a couple of years, I missed the 3.5mm headphone jack on the U11 but I'm really regretting changing now. The only good thing is that I got £200 off the phone with a deal at work so I could probably sell it on without too much of a loss. I'll wait and see what else comes out.

Mine is going back. Hate the curved screen.
I'm not the only one then! Seems like a complete gimmick to me when you need a case to be able to use the phone in your hand. Might as well have a nice looking phone with a small bezel.

I really didn't like it on the S6 or 7 edge but after switching off the edge functions I don't even notice the curved screen is there now.. find it odd anyone would care tbh.

Also... 12 hours battery.. what on earth are you doing with it? That must be pretty much constantly in use?

When I first got the S9+ I could get 7 hrs SoT no bother, faffing about setting it up. Now, most days are between 1 to 4 hrs SoT. No issues with battery as gets me through the day.. 5:30am to 11pm with ease. Even at a site I work on where signal is variable and nailed the battery on previous phones, the S9+ has not come close to running flat.

I prefer a case on as affords some protection and gives better grip. With or without a case I've no problem with the curved edges. Display is great. Speakers are better. But, each to their own, just cos I like it doesn't mean everyone else will! If not the Galaxy then what else...

As to calls cutting out I've applied the latest update from Samsung. Couple of calls this morning and no call cutting out. Bit early to say but fingers crossed I'll report back on this one.

I don’t like how the curved screen refracts the light at all. Looks awful.

I have never minded bezels tbh - don’t mind them at all on my iPhone 8 and in fact much prefer it over the X which has the awful notch - and I don’t get the appeal.

The Samsung lag is also present as ever. And not supporting VoLTE on EE out of the box is ridiculous when it supports WiFi Calling!

For me, I'm not talking about the 'edge functions' per se, it's when I am holding the phone and then I can't scroll down a webpage because the inside of one of my fingers is touching the edge screen. It's fine with a case, but that then totally defeats the object of having an edge screen.

Switched my s9 on today. First impressions are its a bit quicker than my s7 but its noticeably heavier. The s7 is really light in comparison. I also prefer the dimensions of the s7... the s9 is longer and thinner and just doesnt feel as good to hold. Maybe im just used to my s7 too much.

That said. Screen looks noticeably sharper and better on the s9. Better resolution. Im sure i will grow to become very fond of my s9 though, hopefully.

Assuming you have an S7 non edge the difference is 11 grams

I get perception is everything but the difference is very small in reality

Never a problem I've noticed with the case off? Probably hold it differently you. Most of time I have a case on. As to the curved screen then it bothers me not. Yes the edge of page rolls off a litte but not enough to bother me. It is a phone I find I need a case for. I'm not very keen on the glass back and find it far too slippery without a case.

The biggest annoyance and what was on the point of making me return the S9plus was the call cutting. It appears the latest release ARD6 has fixed the issue. Not had a call cut since the update :)

Did you get a McAfee pop-up after the update. I'm suing Eset AV so assumed it must be something Samsung have bundled with the latest update.

No pop-up here. Not using anything currently. Have used Eset in the past. My Build Number ends in ard4 and Baseband ends in ard6.

Not that I recall

Same as me I haven't used any AV on my phone
