The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

It doesn't get much better than this to be honest, Silky smooth FSX at 30fps over 5760 Res, REX Textures, OpusFSX weather engine*, Orbx UK + Global and a PMDG aircraft just to top it off. All that would make it better is for the left and right screens not to stretch, but I can live with it. I'm going to start a round the world trip just for the hell of it, I've hardly ever flown outside of the UK/France/Netherlands with the odd trip to the canaries, so I want to see the rest of the planet now that FSX is working well.

* OpusFSX, just bought this today and got it all up and running in about 2 seconds. It's unbelievable, 100x better than REX, no more flashing sky, no more updating in mid cruise throwing the plane 30 degrees to the side, performance is better, and it just looks far more realistic. Worth every penny.

Am I missing anything obvious from my line up? One thing I miss is ATC, back in the day I used to fly the stock 737 with stock ATC all the time, now that it's a bit more advanced I miss it. Obviously the default FSX ATC doesn't handle Sids, Stars, filing my own route etc... Is there any add-on which adds decent ATC? I know there's Vatsim but it all seems a bit too serious for me at the moment, and very time consuming. I also fancy FSEconomy or something along those lines, just to give me a reason to fly to different airports.

Looking good.

For ATC there is Vox ATC. Never used it, but it looks expensive and thorough.

I posted a list of my favourite FSX things recently. Have you looked at that list?

I've used FS Economy and liked the new airports it took me to, but haven't touched it for ages.

And I know Vatsim does take a while to get, but well worth the learning curve. I flew from Glasgow to East Midlands last night in the A320 with coverage from London control and East Midlands radar and tower.

Radar contact v4 is pretty good for atc you can tick a box when you enter your flight plan so you can fly a sid and when it gives you a vector for your approach you can select another option via a key press to fly your star the interface is similar to the default fsx atc window but it is loads better, you can also get mods for it from avsims library.

The Plan:-
To fly a light aircraft, VFR from Aldergrove to East Midlands on Vatsim with you guys.

Plan-G Plan:- [You may need to copy text and resave as a .plg file]
http://www.andrewreader.com/ocuk/VFR%20Aldergrove%20to%20East%20Midlands.plg

PDF Flight Log:- [You can print this and fill in the missing details]

When:-
I can't do Tuesdays, but will try to be as flexible as I can weekday evenings after 7pm and flexible at weekends.

So those that were/are interested, let's have an agreement on a date:-

Many thanks,

Andrew.

A quick shuffle in dates.

I can now do this Thursday 12th December, 7.30-8pm start.

And can do a few hours Sunday daytime if anyone's available.

A couple of quick grabs showing RevolutionX from Just Flight, which adds full Autogen and night lighting [similar lights to UTX or Orbx] to UK photoscenery. Having used Treescapes up until now, this is a further improvement over that product, adding accurately[ish] aligned buildings along with the trees.

Its not perfect, using default agn which is a bit big in scale, and some of the buildings are not correct for our landscape, with too many large industrial units, and oversized churches... however for £25 covering the Eng, Wales and Scotland its something of a bargain.

These are with Horizon GenX, but it works with JF Real and Tileproxy too.

That 2nd shot looks great.

I have a £4 credit to use with JF.

Maybe this is the purchase?

I have minimal space left on my SSD drive for FSX, so something would have to give.

I think you need around a Gig of hdd space for this. The agn files are tiny, but there is 100,000+ files, depending of the scenery installed. It also keeps the installed app and GUI on the system, with the compressed agn files, so you can add or remove autogen, without reinstalling the whole program, but I guess you could delete that once the agn is installed, if space is very tight.

V and I loaded up fuel (V less so) and headed off from Aldergrove to East Midlands for our OCUK shopping trip.

Very nice Dappo, wow!

What mods you using in the first few shots please. I was using the purple haze but it was making my shots look too pastel like(if that makes sense:p)

I just cant get my colours right the the mods! too light, too dark.
