**The Official Star Wars Battlefront II Thread (PC)**

Loot boxes are here to stay as long as they still sell, as long as they don't actually trip over a countries gambling regulations. At the end of the day they probably only need around 5% box sales to laugh their way to the bank, if that.

Unfortunately it was always a pretty safe bet that if any company was going to take this loot box farce too far it would be EA, although Warner Bros gave it a good go too.

If we are lucky this may cause some of the publishers to rethink how aggressive they should be on this approach and role it back to cosmetic crap for the whales, given much like DLC its probably here to stay, whether we like it or not.

Belgium’s gambling regulators are investigating Battlefront 2 loot boxes

Doubt much will come if it but glad this is gaining traction.

After seeing this on Reddit I've also reported them to the UK Gambling Commission in hopes they are able to something if anything about these shady gambling practises.

EA might have shot themselves in the foot this time with the amount of time required to unlock anything in the game through in game means. The amount of time required is something close to 4500 hours I believe. There is already a cause for investigation (this is nothing like loot crates I've seen in other games) hence why they are being investigated on the basis of the loot crates being a game of chance as there is no other method of earning anything in the game (AFAIK).

Don't worry, when someone has bought all the Starfighter cards they'll be able to turn faster and shoot faster than you can. Just because they've spent money. Do come back to tell us how much you're enjoying the Starfighter mode then?

And that’s somehow worse than someone being able to turn faster and shoot faster because they have played the game more than me ? It’s the same outcome...

I've played MMOs, etc. where you'd be lucky to unlock everything at 8000 hours never mind 4500 heh. 4500 seems a lot for the likely amount of content and organic (rather than forced) active lifespan.

I've been playing through Origin Access. Won't be buying - single player is a bit .... thin. MP is also very basic - how on earth is a game released in 2017 so far behind BF3 or BF4? You spawn - run to objective, shoot a bit and die. Repeat. No variety at all. And you either spawn as a troop or a vehicle - you can't switch without dying??

Lol at reporting to gambling commission.

Hmm is a kinder surprise egg gambling?
Are football stickers gambling?

There are loads of things in life you can buy where you don’t know exactly what you will get.

Did either of you @Rifte @NewGamer11 play the beta or try the origin trial ? The game is so substandard it's embarrassing.

Forget the loot boxes, the campaign is laughable, the multiplayer (pay to win) has some of the worst designed maps ever and caters to a tiny 20v20 !!

Yeah, I did play the beta on my PS4 (PC was undergoing maintenance at the time), and I did enjoy it.

I am well aware that the game has a pay to win aspect to it, and I cannot deny that. The negative press (and rightly so) that it has been given has forced EA's hand somewhat to make the grind easier, and with the number of hours I plugged into the first one, I will soon be unlocking the right cards etc.

Of course, I am going to get owned by some guy that has rinsed daddy's credit card in the initial stages, but these will be few and far between in my opinion, and probably no different in numbers to the hackers that used to cause me a problem in the first outing.

This bad consumer business practice needs to be expelled from the industry, and its right that people slam it, but I do not want to deny myself a game that I will most likely enjoy.

If I bought this from Greenman gaming, played it for 6 hours could I get a refund through origin?

Or a refund at all?

Nope and nope.

You can however get a refund if you by it via Origin. I wouldn't bother though, EA removed the refund button from their support portal for it the other day hoping people would give up the 60+ minute wait times for customer service.

One is called skill and time the other is just money. sad attitude you have.

Erm, can you please explain why it would be more skilful for someone to grind for hours and kill me because they have better perks than if they just unlocked the stuff via £££ and did exactly the same ?

Their skill level is not determined by the method of how they unlock perks etc...

Someone utterly gash could grind for hours and kill me with their better perks, how is that worse for me than someone who just bypasses the grind doing the same ? Its the same, I die either way... and I never know if they grinded those perks or bought them, and thankfully I'll never give a toss either.

Guess i'm in it until the end then! Seeing more and more videos of it makes me think not buying the loot boxes isn't enough.
