Sorry but I have to question this! Facial animation is where this game is very much let down, just dosnt feel natural at all. I can let it pass, but its absolutely not a strong point of the game
Lol yep, anyone that says the facial animations and overall NPC automation/animations are anything but terrible needs spectacles. They randomly sprint around, they randomly glitch about, they randomly launch themselves into the sky, they look like they are early 2000s sci-fi cyborgs with a look on their face as if about to go into murder mode - And that look is 24/7.

At least they should get the contrast right.

Good point actually, they want to give gamers a cool space experience? Oh let's give a colour grade that is anything but a space experience :p

You mean like Cyberpunk 2077 then which people love benchmarking? It sold well despite lots of bugs, poor AI,poor launch performance, degraded RPG elements over Witcher 3,etc. But all people kept saying it was pretty....no comments about the RPG side, when it is the most important aspect of the game from a studio known to make RPG games! :p

I consider New Vegas and Witcher 3 much better RPG games overall. I still completed Cyberpunk 2077 and I will play the expansion despite this, as it was still fun enough for me.In the end enthusiasts on forums always moan about Bethesda Games Studio games, but they seem to mostly stand the test of time well. I think ICDP summed it up well:

Games like Valheim are a load of fun too,but it looks mediocre so no one on here cares.
Yeah, cyberpunk sold a lot considering how broken it was. A Bethesda moment from CDPR kind of thing - lying/"upscaling" /:DLSSing reality to a version their games never were (TW3 also had its problems).

But at least is not a loanding screen when you get to your car, "drive" in a bubble on an imaginary road and then loading screen again to your destination :))

I would very much prefer to just quick load from one instance on a planet to another instance on another planet than having a few extra loading screens and losing time for nothing in "space". :)

Damn Creation engine....

Maybe we will have Creation Engine 3 for Elder Scrolls 6!

It might be a design decision - there was a mod which enabled you to enter Skyrim cities without any loading screens.

haha yes in this game, BLACKS are GREY!

Here's Bethseda's idea of what Space is like.

I do find it bizarre that Bethesda (of all studios) is getting their visuals hard-critiqued for Starfield - has nobody actually played Bethesda games before? They were *all* ugly and dated in comparison to what was considered 'state-of-the-art' at the time - visuals have never been the reason to play these games, it's the opportunity to immerse yourself in a world in a way that few other games do.

Would I like Bethesda to have cutting-edge visuals? Of course - but Todd Howard's never been shy about stating the Creation Engine is the best way for them to tell the stories they tell. Even so, I think Starfield is a giant leap (geddit?) beyond Fallout 4/76 and much though it'd be nice if it was a prettier game (mostly lighting/rendering tech), the actual assets are very well designed and IMO really capture the 'NASA-punk' thing they were going for.

Anyone just ignoring the quests and exploring?

At the moment I'm just jumping about going to random planets and looting stuff, it's great,

It's ridiculous.

The best artwork of Bethesda games are the fan made or promotional material.

People think the shadows/contrast/textures aren't mmmm just right, get modding like for every previous Bethesda game :p

Not on purpose - but I accidentally landed in the wrong spot on Kreet and spent hours wandering around getting into trouble before realising I had to go to another spot on the planet to actually do the mission :o

I've currently got Morgan following me around whilst I do anything and everything *except* whatever it is she wants me to do :D

Yeah this is kinda getting tiring now the "travelling". The whole space thing feels very tacked on just to dare I say it.... "false advertise" space travel and "freedom". Mass effect andromeda did this better. The current system in starfield is only breaking immersion for me now, not adding to it, I'm actually more tempted to reinstall that and play it instead :D

I'm enjoying the game aside from the niggles, it's fallout 4 in space basically.

Graphics wise (I'm not hugely bothered as beth games have never been known for this), the game isn't even in the same league as cp 2077, especially when you look at the performance for the visuals you're getting (not like starfield is using ray tracing either so that can't be blamed for poor performance), people who are saying cp 2077 is nothing special and the graphics on display in starfield are great/on par need to head to specsavers

Some gameplay from my end.

Really am amazed that the vram wasn't pushed to the limits (tbh, given the sloppy textures at times, they could have at least upped this somewhat), maybe when the hd texture pack arrives ;) :p

Hopefully the patch due next week and a driver update from nvidia will help things somewhat.

Going to try these out btw:

As said, don't use redux configs are they only are tuned to work early on in the starter sections and not with other planets which have a completely difference filter/palette.

Using the new Quantum Reshade! So much better!

I'm about an hour in and collected a load of junk in my inventory, what's everyone doing with it as there does not seem to be any scrappage in this game.

I've learned some weapon mods also, anyone come across a weapons mod bench near the starter planet yet?

I've spent literally half my playtime so far trying to complete a survey mission, trying to find the last fauna on a planet.

The planets are so much more interesting and nice to look at than NMS. Cool things too like I was fighting my way through a pirate star port, and a fricking ship comes into land in the middle of the hangar where the gunfight is taking place, looks totally badass....it was just after I turned the robots against the pirates too, explosions everywhere.

You can sell stuff in New Atlantis (there's a terminal near where you land your ship) - Vosco can carry some stuff for you and you can store a limited amount on the ship. I'm still struggling with inventory too but I'm not too far in yet - I'm sure there's other options.
