Been trying all morning to get it to boot at 500x9, but no luck:(

It will boot at 498x9 and run SuperPI 1M at 495x9

Now trying to find out how little vcore required for 4.05GHz (450x9) Orthos stability.

Hows it going Weescott?

i dont wish to ruin this thread but im not finding these chips to be anything special.

at £144 they're barely cheap. can get a E2180 for £54 and some of them will do a 100% overclock and they're pi times will be around 14s. they may run a little hotter but considering you're saving £90 can get a pretty decent cooler on it.

2 types of overclockers:

group a) want the best bang for buck.
group b) want the fastest they can get out of their system.

You're in group a). I am in group a), but will migrate to b) when I get one of these puppies. Yeah, I'll willingly go from 3 Ghz to 4.4 Ghz for £144 :)

Considering the T-Junction is @ 105c on these chips he could have easily ran it and been fine with a load temp of 85c, can't ***ing wait to get mine. It's going to be a long weekend :D.

i understand but look at it this way. the 2180's 100% overclock gets it to around 3.2Ghz with less cache. the E84xx's for 140 quid start at 3.0ghz (comparable to the 6xxx series at the same price you get 2.66ghz) and run better clock for clock and run cooler. and then seem to be overclocking to 4ghz on air.

E8400 is in a totally different league, hell it shouldn't even be compared.

100% OC gets you 3.2Ghz on the E2180

50% OC gets you 4.5Ghz on the E8400

4.5Ghz is a whole new world compared to 3.2Ghz.

But I'm glad you're happy with your choice.

I just don't understand the whole 2180 thing i dont want to be running my cpu at it's absolute extreme limit 24/7 would be like me saying my 6420 can get 3.6ghz therefore it makes the 6600 and 6750 redundant i like the idea of these new chips hitting 4ghz well within it's limits. It's like running a 6400 6600 @ 3.2 ghz.I would like an 8400 will wait a while though until the prices settle to £120 ish as i see 6850's being overpriced second hand wise already seeing them for the same price as the 8400 is new elsewhere.
