***The Official Wolfdale 8200/8400/8500 Overclocking Thread ***

Just got my E8500 in, pack date was 29th May. Currently sat at 4.16Ghz on 1.4V (1.392V load).

I can live with that :D

Not bad for air cooled using a 1200rpm fan

I assume he wants to know your VID at stock (it wanders as you clock).

So he can see what voltage your individual sample CPU needs to run stock over the actual stock 1.2v

Stock VID is 1.625V, checked that before I started clocking :)

What VID does realtemp report when you click settings?

What aint right?

It says 1.625V in both Coretemp and Realtemp.

EDIT - DOH! I R R'TARD! lol

It is 1.1625V /slaps forehead

That's current VID when OC'd, whats your stock VID ?.

A 1.2v CPU does not have a VID of 1.625v at stock, that would mean your CPU needs 1.625v to run at 3.16GHZ. ;)

1.2250v is my current VID but that's at 3.6GHZ and no I cant reboot to see stock for now anyhow.

That's a great VID. I would push her some more. Try for 4.4 or 4.5ghz stable if its at a reasonable voltage :) What's the batch number btw?

Running Orthos @ 466 x 9 = 4.2Ghz at same volts now.

See if it makes it to the hour mark.

I really don't want to go above the 1.4V i'm using now, if I can get this stable i'll be happy with 4.2 :D

Not sure what the batch code is, I just shoved it in :D All I know is pack date was last week of May.

in my bios it's set at 1.35 so i suppose i've got a bit more to play with.

well i installed my new PSU last night and was able to drop my voltage down to 1.32 @ 3.7ghz

I then upped the voltage back to 1.35 @ 3.8ghz and it's not stable. Prime stops on one of the worker threads after a couple of mins yet 3.7ghz is fine.

i know i'm being picky at .1ghz but assumed it would run fine with slightly more voltage going to it. Or have i reached my limit with 3.7?
