I was the same when the MBA's launched, but tbh i've used the drive on my iMac less then 10 times since i got it in 2010.

There is no 17" Macbook anymore
Ill ignore the fact that Ive never tested/used my MBPs DVD drive
. But there will be that one single time when Ill need it and become vexed that its missing

I expected a new iMac. Odd that they left that out.
Obviously couldn't source a retina display for it in time.

A 27" retina display? I'm not sure we will see that for a long time. I'm guessing the iMac refresh is delayed because Apple didn't wanto dilute the new product line.
I can't see any other reason not to update it. I mean, the upgrade to the MBA wasn't really ground-breaking .. just a minor bump in the scheme of things, and they still updated that.
Same with the Mac Pro.
Unless they are trying to find ways to fit a desktop quality GPU into one or something.

I was looking at swapping from my MBP to a Mac Mini. However, bumping one up to spec plus Apple Care brings it to within £100 of the baseline iMac. Which would be better with it's significant screen, quad core CPU and marginally better graphics 'card'. To buy now, or to wait til October in the hope of a spec bump...that IS the question!
