** The Official WWDC 2012 Thread **

Is anyone had any stability problems with iOS6?

Might install it to take a look assuming I can get my UDID registered.

Are people really that fussed about having Siri?

Most iPhone 4S users I know have it disabled.

My sister thinks its cool and fun, but she has the attention span of a potato :p

So there might be a few cheaper MBP's floating about now as a refresh has been done..

Handy I've been thinking about buying second hand

So how do you think the GT 650M will hold up on a 2880x1800 display? In my opinion I don't think we'll be looking at playing many games at respectable FPS's (30+) even at lowest settings, with this card. That said, since the res is so high we can half the res and play at 1440x900 and everything will be nice and crisp. What do you guys think?

Pretty much as you say, don't expect 'Retina' Gaming in new games at healthy frame rates, but you can simply turn down the resolution to something lower without impacting on image quality in any significant way.

So I watched the stream late last night and did anyone find it hard to follow tim cook? His dramatic pauses looked like he either forgot what he was saying or was overcome with emotion with his speech, just found it a bit weird.

Phil and Scott are ok to up on stage, the OSX dude was a bit funny if a little nervous. :p

I don't find it strange that the iMac hasn't been upgraded, I suspect thats to give the refresh laptop range centre stage for the next few months (back to school etc), I think they'll get refreshed around late September / October, but again that is a very long time since it was upgraded last in May 2011?, not sure an iMac has gone that long before without even a minor refresh.

I also assume over time the retina screen will move and replace the whole MBP/A range, and perhaps even make it to the iMac.

iOS 6 looks cool, glad they are keeping the 3GS supported cos' I ain't got the $$$ to upgrade yet, and interesting move to ditch Google Maps, I wonder why! ;) Although I do worry about it not having as much info, using Yelp is one thing but is everything Google Maps has also what Yelp has? It does make sense to combine a proper ratings app like Yelp with a map solution and integrate things like OpenTable & maybe PassBook or whatever it was called but will it be a hit?

I also assume iOS6 will be released with the new iPhone in September!

Mountain Lion looks cool, as someone said its probably what Lion should have been to begin with, but you can see they've been working hard on merging the two OS's for a while now, what I've seen looks good imo, but I wonder if iCloud Tabs will catch out people who may be viewing whatever on the computer and their otherhalf notices it on their iPhone in Safari, especially if they use the same iCloud sign in! :D

One thing I'll miss is queuing for the dvd, was fun to go out and get a new OS, now I just click download, too easy! :/

Also I want Safari 6 now, looks much better!

Putting 6 on my iPad 3 tonight.. I just want to see the maps, nothing else sounds interesting yet...

The privacy I'm not bothered about, wish it was app protection (locking instead)

If the iOS 5 betas are anything to go by, I'd not bother unless you can afford to have a buggy crashy phone :p

I've let my iOS Dev Subscription expire, so I'll be leaving it until it's released this time :)

Just thought I'd throw this in. Popped into the mac store on regent street earlier to see if I could get my eyes on some retina goodness. Alas they had none on display and they had all sold out. Was informed they should have some in display tomorrow. How ever. That wasn't my gripe.

They were still selling the 'old' MBP at full price. I know it's up to the consumer to do research etc but I just thought it was really a bit cheeky. But I guess that's life / apple / business

Lots of people are saying negative things about offering an i7 in the MBA's.

yet reading the IB reviews , it says they are considerably cooler and faster. Its a no brainer if you get an i7 model to get the 8gb with it. Another well known website said that the myth that getting hotter and more powerful shorten life is a pants claim. Why:

I5 at full power for 60 seconds = heat for longer
i7 at full power doing full job 35 seconds = less heat

BUT

same battery usage.

Myths indeed about i7 chips in MBA's , i think it's more that 8gb of ram with i7 and new SSD in a 11inch machine is pretty wicked bit of kit!

Even if it does shorten life, the machine is covered for 3 years for tech support, and your going to buy a new one in 3 years anyway are you not? lol

Glad it wasn't just me... Really weird... at one point he paused so long I thought he'd crashed :p

I thought he did quite well actually, a little nervous but his presentation was spot on :)

Yeah I'm guessing the new iMacs will have a redesign. Possible late this year, early next year launch. I've decided to hold off for now - Still happy with my MBP :)

I definitely agree with that! I wish I didn't upgrade to Lion really... Wasn't a worthy update, but this year it looks great... And cheaper! :D

Think I'm going to whip iOS 6 on my iPhone tonight :) Looking forward to testing Maps and local search with Siri :)

I want the portability of an 11/13 Air with the screen of the new 15" MBP. I get the feeling they may have had problems with yields hence just the 15" for now but needed to show something with Ivybridge that outshines the 'competition' in the mean time.

As they clearly can produce the same for 13" so may hang on as that's my ultimate machine and would be pretty disappointed with another refresh later this year on the rest of the line up once yields (speculation) improve.

I think the retina model is a "warmer" for the changes to the 13inch and abolishment of certain things IE dvd drive.

But id advise against the 13inch as obviously a retina display is coming and slimer profile and could be one of those quiet upgrades later in the year.

Its a choice between MBA and MBPR for most.

I think a fully spec MBA is perfect for so many people.

Thanks for adding me last year anyway Maccy :) Happy to wait for the proper release as I plan to upgrade to the new iPhone anyway and it makes it a bit more interesting exploring all the new iOS features at the same time.

Wait are they not permanently added?

Maccy added mine last year, I just assumed I'd be okay to download and install iOS 6 on my iPhone?
