** The Official WWDC 2012 Thread **

Now you mention it, safari seems much faster than before. Full screen feature in landscape makes browsing full websites much much easier and it is easily possible to read standard text without zooming it which is always good :)

I would say everything else seems about the same as before apart from the app store and iTunes. They both seem to have their moments

To be expected to be honest, with the App Store and iTunes being new.

Out of interest, back when the iOS 5 Beta was around last year, there were reports on the 5th August that Apple were banning Developer accounts of those that were reselling UDID slots for the beta. Did anything more come of this? I didn't manage to find anything at all, and it certainly seemed this was untrue.

I only ask because if the mods allow it, I may want to purchase a beta account, and have an OcUK UDID thread, where it would be 60p per slot to cover the cost of the Dev account (60p x 100 = £60).

If mods allow it, and if there is enough interest, I'd be happy to do this.

I've heard that it's both there as well as not there...so I have no idea! And apparently the T&Cs also say that you cannot discuss them...

Would be great if somebody shed some more light on this :)

The shocker is

2012 MBA i5 8GB ram 11inch: 56XX
2012 MBA i7 8GB ram 11inch: 70XX

Yet

Same on 13inch results in about 50 difference.

So Upgrade to i7 worth it on 11 but not 13

Must be something different between 1.7 i5 and 1.8 i5....

Yeah I heard that around the time too.

Although someone may help with this? The phone I'm using now is a replacement handset directly from Orange after my old ne became faulty and is therefore different from the one I originally had activated. However I still managed to install iOS6 no trouble downloaded from imzdl. All I could think is that either I was very lucky it worked or it is working on all devices without activation anyway?

Well you'd swipe in from the right section of your trackpad and it reveals notification centre. But it has to be the edge of the trackpad. I didnt know it knew whereabouts on the trackpad you interacted with it. Just multi touch.

Also is Facebook intergration not activated in DP4? I cant find it anywhere.
EDIT: aaaah it says coming in the fall on apples website.

So, yeah. I caved. Bought my first Apple product yesterday. Retina MBP (256gb version) is on the way :D

The main reason I am getting it is because of the screen. I am not a huge fan of OS X (don't shoot me peeps) :)

Apart from the screen they are fairly similar but the pro has CD drive / ethernet etc on board and normal HDD. If they are the only differences then yes I would get the base retina.

I like to have everything on hard drives in the computer so the plan will be remove the Superdrive as i never use them anyway and just get a hard drive cradle and put a SSD in there for the OS and 750GB storage.

I didn't go for the processor upgrade from 2.6-2.7 as that's just such a small increase. Could the same be said for 2.3-2.6?

Hmmm...orders still going through.

Just thinking it may be expensive to upgrade parts in the Retina version.

The 2.3-2.6 upgrade wouldn't give that much of a performance boost.

When you say expensive to upgrade, do you mean BTO options or doing upgrades yourself? Because the former is expensive, while the latter isn't possible.

DIY is possible, the SSD isn't soldered. Granted that there's nothing out atm that you can buy to put in them, but wasn't that exactly the same case with the Airs and now there are upgrades you can buy and DIY

O bugger...just been declined finance on a new MacBook Pro anyway...

I thought i'd get finance this time around after sorting my credit rating out with Experian and getting a score of 999 out of....999...but this is obviously not satisfactory for Barclays...what a joke...

Off to the bank to get a better deal i think. At least they know me.

There are a lot of people been declined for finance now. You could have the best credit rating but it appears they are taking other things more seriously now like postcode, job status e.t.c.

Sorry - not seeing it.

13" 2012 MBA
1.8GHz i5 - 6917
2.0GHz i7 - 7007

1.3% ≠ miles ahead, especially with an 11% increase in clock speed not factored in.

There was a typo in that result for the 1.8GHz. It's actually 6,197.

Which is more like an 11.6% improvement.
