O bugger...just been declined finance on a new MacBook Pro anyway...

I thought i'd get finance this time around after sorting my credit rating out with Experian and getting a score of 999 out of....999...but this is obviously not satisfactory for Barclays...what a joke...

Off to the bank to get a better deal i think. At least they know me.
999? Still denied! Thats a complete joke!
I take it you have had credit cards n previous finance? Its sometimes hard to get approved when you have never had credit before.

Are you getting the loan directly from the bank? I have a great credit rating too..but when I went to get the loan for my car a couple years ago, they wouldnt let me have the amount I wanted over a year. Moved it to 2 years and it was all good.

Yep, got credit cards, electoral role, perfect payments, been in this property for nearly 2 years and all the things under the sun you need and i can get finance on a bleeding brand new car if i wanted...I'm a "older" student and have a part time job as a property manager 20+ hours of the week. The barclays application didn't even have enough options to say i was a student or do some photographic work so i said i was employed.

Got an appointment booked with my bank manager tomorrow so will try and get a good low rate loan with them personally. I could afford it now but i just like having a rainy day fund.

O well...maybe it's a sign for me to wait for a iMac...or build a PC!

EDIT - The finance was apple finance that goes through to barclays and then they just take the score from Experian...which i have the highest score possible on...

Isn't Apple 0%? How can you get a better deal?

How noticeable is a 1000 point drop in bench mark? I have bought the base retina laptop with 16GB, starting to wonder if the extra £500 is worth it or not.

I use it for development.

Damnit, I have just bit the bullet and gone for the one up and cancelled the other order. Most expensive laptop I have ever bought!

2 MPBR 512GB with 16GB ram.

Apple don't let me down.

It's 6%, and no it probably won't be if you're using an SSD (2.6 to 2.7 that is)

it 2.3ghz to 2.6+ bigger hard drive.

I figured the extra £500 over the life time of the machine isn't actually that much and it does mean i dont have to worry about storage / duel boot windows etc.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the specific processor upgrade on the high-end model, not a line upgrade. Yes, it is worth it!

For perspective looking through the geekbench browser results for some of the non 'real' mac results with an i5-2500k scores are around 10-12k depending on OC.

Depends what you develop. But I would only suggest it if you know you need that extra SSD space not offered in the base model.

Does anyone know, with an iOS dev account, when I go to register will it give me an option to use a ccard? Or does it link it to my card on iTunes ?
