** The Official WWDC 2012 Thread **

My 13" is on its last legs, if these are the kinds of updates we get i'll be going for a 15" with the hi-res upgrade, unless the air gets 8gb of ram

Those specs are incredibly underwhelming. Been getting quite excited with all the rumours and the recent new Win 8 ultrabook previews. This could be hugely disappointing and a giant anticlimax.

Not going to go into the "retina" display thing again, I've already made my point on that.

However, the MacBook Pro is more than ever supposed to be a "pro" level machine; meaning a machine that has more ooomph than the average MBA, designed for intensive work that a professional would do. Taking away the optical drive and Ethernet port would not help at all here.

Aside from that, what would you expect them to change, particularly for the 13" MBP?

The display is a disappointment for most, however.

If those are the specifications...100% won't bother upgrade. No true upgrade in performance or features (certainly don't need USB 3.0 or Bluetooth 4.0, as both never get used as it is).

The only interesting announcement will be the new Mac Pros which haven't been changed for years.

I always wonder what people expect Apple to do with the MP.

You can't make it any smaller bar removing disk drives, and that would be the most retarded move in history for a Pro desktop machine.

The MP will get new hardware, and that is about it tbh.

I have a dream, all the new mac range will come with built in ssd's (falling price of nand and clear awesomeness) with a space for a second hard drive for either windows or just massive space.

Thought that would be the best way to make the mini smaller and stuff

Or a hybrid 64gb ssd cache with 500gb normal.

I'd expect them do do the hybrid thing with software instead of just slapping one in. More like a situation where there's an osx ssd in there plus a mechanical hdd for non app stuff (usual data) which could be taken out for another ssd for windows :)

Keeping the dream alive...

This years WWDC is going to be a head scratcher I think. I wouldn't of said we will get a new iPhone in June / July but its obvious that they are going to have to announce iOS6. The problem with that is that in order to demo it they are going to have to show a taller capable iPhone 5 so that devs can get their apps prepared for the update. Theres not really any way of them telling devs hey get ready for a taller work space without actually basically demoing a new iPhone...

I'm going to (foolishly) hope for a spec bump on the Mac Minis. My MBP has now been sat on my desk for close to month and I'm going to sell and buy a Mac Mini to replace it. I'll get the higher model with AMD graphics and bump the CPU to the 2.7GHz i7 (edu discount for the win!). The MBP is a Mid-2011 revision so it's still brilliant, it's just not getting any portable use anymore.

Nice, yes. Interesting...not remotely. Same enclosure, and the new components and updates will be pretty obvious really.

All of the desktop Macs already have this. Mac mini has two internal drive bays. And SSDs won't become completely standard until the price is way closer to that of mechanical drives - too many people need the space.

To be honest, Apple would be pretty stupid not to. Might not be straight away, but it will happen in a reasonable amount of time (ie. you won't be waiting well into next year for it).

iOS6 - Yep
