Yes Wifi is pretty much everywhere but an Ethernet port is still essential of you ask me

I think having ethernet is essential. There were times at work when the wireless was down so I was buggered with my MBA, or it was slow because of the range or whatever..

I don't think this year I have never had to use wired. That's even to do the tasks required by a sysadmin.

I carry a little AP around with me that has ethernet > wifi for this reason. I have a MBA 13".

I've got a feeling everythings going to be let down by this WWDC or it will be a lot less then people expect. Hype = fail.

Remember that WWDC is not a consumer event. It's an event for developers. What developers want to see is new software and new APIs. I can only imagine Apple showing off new hardware if it somehow impacts app developers (e.g. a new iPhone screen ratio).

Gigabit ports are essential.

I regularly transfer 10's of GB between my NAS, MacBook Pro and Mac Pro, wireless yields 12MB/sec on average and gigabit averages 80+.

Really, it should be upgraded to 10GbE.

Yeh would be nice for those people transfering lots of data, a fibre channel would be nice for those who need it but that would come at a cost. Same as 10gbe.
