*** The Official X1950 Pro Thread ***

Fixed sync issues i think by using always on and combined that with the composite sync in CCC (where you can move screen about the option is at bottom there).

Most games are fine its just gta sa. So im now woundering if 6.12 and 7.1 drivers are causing corruption on the odd occasion. So im making a plea to the many ppl that have gta sa to look at them screenies of gta sa i posted earlier showing the chute and the building and let me know if they have the same problem or not. The building seems fine during daylight in the game its just when the game goes late at night so around 20:00 game time it happens. So please please check if you have the game and the same card please and post some screenies of when its late 20:00 or bit later of that building in ls and of the chute. Cheers.

well i don't have the same brand x1950pro but i've played gta:sa with both the 6.12s and 7.1s and they're both fine. :D

i'll grab some shots..... :)

edit: lol i do have the same issues on that building....

still, i'm not bothered, it's not the card at fault. it's a driver/game issue and i don't care.... :D

Thanks man. Seems its either the games fault with using this card or a driver issue that has not been identified yet. Hows best to let ati know so they can look at this and try to fix it for next drivers?

i thought as much, dont think the 300w fits in my shuttle does it?

would the x1950 pro be cpu limited if i just went for that?

like the idea of selling my gfx card and just upgrading the gfx rather than the whole lot....

obviously this would be the last upgrade i could do ... am i better just biting the bullet and going to the c2d?

Well it depends ultimately what you wanna do!

The 1950 will no doubt will be limited by your CPU, the rest of the set up is fine though thats the thing :( you could eaasily try clocking your cpu a tad to get moe out of it, you just may be a bit too limited!

It would certainly increase performance regardless though, think of it this way, blag your x800 for around £60-70 and then you only need to pay around an extra £60-£70 for the 1950 :D

I am thinking of buying the PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) and was wondering if my PSU would be ok. I've read on other sites that the card requires a lot of power.

My current set up is

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+
Mainboard : MS-7093
Soundcard : Creative SB Audigy 4
Graphics Card : Onboard
PSU : 400w

Hiya Three,
The 1950pro doesn't need as much juice as all the specs say, I don't know if ATI are just covering the other fullfledged 1950 cards. There's an article on xbit or anand, which shows the 1950pro using the same amount of power as the older x850xt - about 66w under load

My mates just installed a pro in his system with only a 320w psu and no problems

I hate to be a pain with what probably are silly questions, but here goes. I decided to go for the Sapphire X1950 Pro 512 AGP, instead of the HIS, and have ordered it today. Reasons being, my system is pretty old, but I can't yet afford to build another, every penny counts at the moment, and my X800XL died the other day.
So instead of my last question about molex-PCI adaptors, I have another. Besides the regular white plastic molex connectors, my Tagan has 2 of these:

Kick me if you want, spit on me and pour countless gallons of scorn upon my noobish ignorance, but first, please tell me if these are ok to use on my new card. I know they say VGA on them, but I'm proceeding with extreme caution. This card has almost cost me a divorce, so I don't want to even risk breaking it.

Hiya

How long have you had the X800XL?
Only reason I ask is that mine died about 13 months after I bought it from DABS, and even though DABS offered a 1 year warranty, the card actually comes with a 5 year manufacturers warranty. I got in touch with Gigabyte, and they tried to fix it - couldn't, so sent me a X850XT Platinum Edition as a replacement :D

Gotta be worth the effort!

Does it crash at stock setting when the side panel is off?
Have you got enough ventilation in your case?
If your card crashs when running at the stock clock setting then I think
you should send it back. You paid the extra for it to run at those speeds!

To numbster,
Hi and Thanks for the response dude most of us are on the same boat. Yes I have tried with out the side panel. and yes I have got good ventilation in my case as far as I know, I have all fan docks loaded with decent 120 &/or 80mm fans (I even had to change them, got more powerfull ones).

To honestjohn,
Yes exactly my thoughts also. I am so in love with the <HIS x1950Pro 512> already that I am hesitant to give it back, in case I get another broken one or they find out that my system has poo for brains, or even replace it with the sapphire. I have actually brought the GPU core up to 607.5/default mem speed. and it is working well at that level, any higher would bring back oblivion *sorry* I mean bring back the BSOD. I dont really understand by what you mean by "living across the pond" but I dont think you are a FROG :P
My system isnt as *badass* as yours m8 as I am always on a tight budget but ill post it here anyway as I get confused trying to modify my "userCP" I might do later. so here goes, dont laugh OK ;)
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.2
MSI K8N neo Platinum nForce3 250
Corsair value DDR 1024Mb
Creative Audigy (old card latest drivers: not an x-fi but itll do me for now)
1 x 160Gb Seagate Barracuda EIDE
1 x 250Gb Hitachi Deskstar SATA
DVD (i forgot which kind this is but its bog standard dual layer thingy)
Jeantech Phong
powered by Seasonic S12-430
and last but not least the VIDEO CARD in question!

I know this isnt OcUK's fault but I just wonder if someone on their side is actually reading our moans and gripes. It would just make us feel a lot more secure with our purchases from them. Dont get me wrong for me they are one of the if not the best online stores I go to already. But in situations like this it'd be great to discuss this with someone from the supplier, who might know more of whats going on. I just cant imagine how much on the forums they have to go through as It may be too much for whoever is gonna read through all this.

I've had it for less than a year. Sounds like a great idea, except.....
Almost as soon as I received it, I changed the cooler. Found the stock fan just a tad too noisy. Oops, there goes any warranty :(

You runnning latest nforce drivers?

just got a HIS X1950 pro iceq 3 turbo and i cant figure out how to overclock it.

radlinker doesn't recognise it, atitool just gives me a black screen as soon as i go 1mhz on either core or mem and atitraytools just resets back to default when i hit apply.

any help appreciated.

surely some of you have the HIS card and know how to overclock it??

Did u try ATI-Tray-Tools, ATITool or ATI Overdrive?

I didn't really try yet to overclock my HIS, I mean its pretty fast out the box!

They are but when I rang them this morning they said that they were really busy, maybe dealing with all the x1950s ey? :D

Mine was replaced this morning, it had the same issue as yours - so they deffo deamed it faulty, I hope that the new one works and that I don't have to do this again!! I'll post results maybe Saturday after installation adn testing.

Anyone else get the monitor keeps clicking as in trying to find resolution or somit. I mean i just turned off monitor while i had some dinner and watched some tv. Got back and put monitor on but kept doing the clicking and wouldnt display anything. Right clicking and moving mouse a lot seemed to bring it back on like. I find this happens when i change res in games or when i exit games tho not as much.

If ppl know about this is there a solution.

atitool doesnt support the x1950 pro, ati overdrive does nothing when i set manually and makes the screen flicker green when auto detect.

ati tray tools never worked, clocks just reset to default when i hit apply in driver level and low level gave me a black screen.

i did however figure out how to get it working at driver level and someone else figured out the low level too, in either case you must use increments of 7mhz or more.

my findings are here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=2128108#post2128108 (admin remove link if its not allowed )

I'm having exactly the same problems with my 1950 pro.
