I suffered fan noise.

The card was fitted vertical so it wasn't as noticeable. Turned case on side so card was horizontal as if in a tower case (fan facing down), and it became obvious the fan was duff.

Not had any success with the blue-tack mod or applying pressure to the fan to see it click locks.

The fan moves in and out on its axes and clips the shroud causing the noise. And worsens when horizontally positioned as gravity keeps the fan constantly in contact with shroud.

So can give that a try by placing your case on different sides.

do you think its worth sending it back ive spoke to another person who has a his card and it seems it happens to his one

its not good when its info is saying ultra silent and durable fan

edit:still waiting for a reply from overclockers i sent them a webmote at 9.00 this morning

OK its not designed for it BUT can we use an Accelero X2 without something like that? ie is its not designed for the AGP version or is it just not needed for AGP version?

Yes, you can. In theory, the fan on the AcceleroX2 is meant to do all the work. Although most people from what I've read are buying ramsinks seperately and mounting them on the VRMs which is a wise move in my opinion.

The Powercolor AGP card which uses the Accelero X2 has small heatspreaders attached to the VRMs. So small, that I can't see how much good they would do. See link below. If you click through the pics, they'll give you a fair idea of how the Accelero X2 is attached.......

when you send a rma webnote do they reply quick and who arranges for it to go back as in do i send it back by royail mail which would cost a bit

Last time I sent a webnote the automated response was quick, the actual reply was returned in a reasonable amount of time. You need to send it back yourself, insurance recommended, writing RMA# on 3 sides of box you return it in. Don't know if you get credited for postage. See link, last section ....

Also, in response to your other post. You should also consider the fact that the noise may get worse rather than better over time. Personally, I would if it's that noticeable. One should not have to turn their system upside down and side ways to make a graphics card work as advertised.

yea i got the automated response quick just waiting to get a reply from them i was going to phone up but at 10p a minute im waiting

thats a bit silly to try that. if it happens to another card ill have to see about getting a different one,i dont know what overclockers are like if they would let me have a different card.

i never thought about that i would imagine it would get louder over time, and the noise is a annoying sound

edit:got the email and it doesnt say they pay for costs

Here we go again!!!

My new card turned up today. It only took a week so I'm pretty please with OCUK's turnaround on my RMA. My first card was indeed faulty so recieved a brand new Connect 3D X1950 256. But after running the card in my system for a few minutes and running some intensive games and 3d Mark i have found the same problems as before. I tried the card in another system and still FX corruption & black screen of death. As you can imagine I am now seriously ****** off.

If you don't mind being without a graphics card for a duration (no idea how long turn around would be for you), it's probably wise to get it sorted now while it's under 28 days old. As after that period it would probably take even longer if OC.uk sent it to HIS for a warranty repair.

Apart from the annoyance of the noise I was concerned about resale value. Especialyl as louder than most stock coolers.

Due to upgrading to an Asus 22" Monitor I've also had to upgrade my

ATI Based PowerColor 1950Pro Extreme

to a new

Nvidia based BFG 8800 320MB OC

to cope with the bigger resolution of 1680x1050 ;-(

ATI V.Nice card otherwise (and probably better for Vista that I am running at the moment ;-(

But it really was not coping with F.E.A.R or BF2142 at this resolution.

I've been with Ati since Rage32mb and every time I've upgraded ATI have been behind the Nvidia alternative.., AIW9700PRO shader model behind? XTPE800 (cant remember what the problem was there but there was something)

So I've always thought I've been short changed by ATI and it seems now is a good time to switch.

tI should be able to sell my ATI for a decent price. (I think I sold my £400 original priced XTPE for £100 to get the 1950pro)

My rma was just sent out today as well, pretty good turnaround for me too.

And I don't blame you, I'd be throwing my PC across the room by now if I were you, and I may be in a few days. Do you have one thread where you discussed your problem? I've looked, but can't see one. I just don't want to drive you crazy by asking you the same questions you've already been asked 10 times before. Like what power supply are you using, make and model?

I was very impressed for a £120 card (@ stock) getting this result with 1920x1200 and 2xAA full details on ...

I found that Certain sections of the game would drop below 10fps.. which is a bit unplayable (for me)

I'd prefer a £100 upgrade to make sure this does not happen.

This is where the PC vs Console argument kicks in.

If a console user got less that 10fps then they would be screaming (a ask for a refund) .. but for a PC gamer it just means its time for an upgrade.

That and the problem that the 7.1 cats don't support the 1950pro card OC correctly means I am jumping ship after many : many years.

Since I was foreced to buy a seperate TV card for my Media Centre (for XPMCE/Vista Ultimate to work correctly) even though i had a AIW 9700/ or VIVO XTPE) so I no longer need the video in features at all.

Nvidia seems the way to go.

BUT WAIT.. They are the 1st to offer DX10 cards BUT are the LAST to have certified Vista drivers?

OH CRAP have I just made a big mistake..

I was using WHQL ATI (7.1 with 1950 oc bug) drivers

how long will it be for good Nvidia Vista ones?

Should have my MSI X1950 pro arriving tommorrow from jrodga2k5 for the stunning price of £77.50! Dual slot cooler is a little bit of a bummer, but for that price I can't complain.

Will certainly be a step up from the Mobility Radoen 9000 I've been half-gaming on for the past year or so. Soo many titles I've missed out upon!

Yes, I put mine in the HIS Box. Good luck. Mine's due back Friday or Monday.

Thanks for that. I am going to leave the stock on for a while, just in case I need the warranty! Once I am sure its going to work I will change it over and put some sinks on. Its not exactly noisy with the stock cooler, more a 'wooshing' noise.

My Connect3d rma came back yesterday, installed it and it runs like a dream.
Tis quiet as well, plus I also managed to get the cat 7.1's installed.
3dmark03 doesn't like it though, it bombs out after the first test

I got my card BACK today. after RMAing it. I have tested this card over and over and always had that Black Screen Audio Looping error, with new drivers while running on stock (out of the box) speeds.

Obviously I am unhappy because of the waste of time and money and the fact that it could be something also in my system that is wrong. I honestly dont know what to do now. I guess Ill have to run this card Underclocked as I did before.
