Bane said:I suffered fan noise.
The card was fitted vertical so it wasn't as noticeable. Turned case on side so card was horizontal as if in a tower case (fan facing down), and it became obvious the fan was duff.
Not had any success with the blue-tack mod or applying pressure to the fan to see it click locks.
The fan moves in and out on its axes and clips the shroud causing the noise. And worsens when horizontally positioned as gravity keeps the fan constantly in contact with shroud.
So can give that a try by placing your case on different sides.
Pobman said:OK its not designed for it BUT can we use an Accelero X2 without something like that? ie is its not designed for the AGP version or is it just not needed for AGP version?
wigster said:when you send a rma webnote do they reply quick and who arranges for it to go back as in do i send it back by royail mail which would cost a bit
honestjohn said:One should not have to turn their system upside down and side ways to make a graphics card work as advertised.
honestjohn said:Also, in response to your other post. You should also consider the fact that the noise may get worse rather than better over time.
wigster said:do you think its worth sending it back ive spoke to another person who has a his card and it seems it happens to his one
its not good when its info is saying ultra silent and durable fan
edit:still waiting for a reply from overclockers i sent them a webmote at 9.00 this morning
FUNTY said:My new card turned up today. It only took a week so I'm pretty please with OCUK's turnaround on my RMA. My first card was indeed faulty so recieved a brand new Connect 3D X1950 256. But after running the card in my system for a few minutes and running some intensive games and 3d Mark i have found the same problems as before. I tried the card in another system and still FX corruption & black screen of death. As you can imagine I am now seriously ****** off.

ATI Based PowerColor 1950Pro Extreme
to a new
Nvidia based BFG 8800 320MB OC
to cope with the bigger resolution of 1680x1050 ;-(
ATI V.Nice card otherwise (and probably better for Vista that I am running at the moment ;-(
But it really was not coping with F.E.A.R or BF2142 at this resolution.

I was very impressed for a £120 card (@ stock) getting this result with 1920x1200 and 2xAA full details on ...
I found that Certain sections of the game would drop below 10fps.. which is a bit unplayable (for me)
I'd prefer a £100 upgrade to make sure this does not happen.
This is where the PC vs Console argument kicks in.
If a console user got less that 10fps then they would be screaming (a ask for a refund) .. but for a PC gamer it just means its time for an upgrade.
That and the problem that the 7.1 cats don't support the 1950pro card OC correctly means I am jumping ship after many : many years.
Since I was foreced to buy a seperate TV card for my Media Centre (for XPMCE/Vista Ultimate to work correctly) even though i had a AIW 9700/ or VIVO XTPE) so I no longer need the video in features at all.
Nvidia seems the way to go.
BUT WAIT.. They are the 1st to offer DX10 cards BUT are the LAST to have certified Vista drivers?
OH CRAP have I just made a big mistake..
I was using WHQL ATI (7.1 with 1950 oc bug) drivers
how long will it be for good Nvidia Vista ones?
Hxc said:Should have my MSI X1950 pro arriving tommorrow from jrodga2k5 for the stunning price of £77.50! Dual slot cooler is a little bit of a bummer, but for that price I can't complain.
jrodga2k5 said:Yeah its a good card! TBh I had to sell at that price, the things are going for nothing booooooooooo! Anyways I liked the MSI while I had it, nice card!
wigster said:well its all boxed up ready to be sent back to them with address on the box and rma on box did i need to put a little note in the box to say whats wrong with it,i know thats what the rma is for,but some places ask you to do this aswell
honestjohn said:Yes, you can. In theory, the fan on the AcceleroX2 is meant to do all the work. Although most people from what I've read are buying ramsinks seperately and mounting them on the VRMs which is a wise move in my opinion.
The Powercolor AGP card which uses the Accelero X2 has small heatspreaders attached to the VRMs. So small, that I can't see how much good they would do. See link below. If you click through the pics, they'll give you a fair idea of how the Accelero X2 is attached.......
