OverclockersUK has an outstanding turnaround time. It only took 5 days to get my card back once they received it and I live in the US.

I RMA'd my x1950 pro 512mb AGP which OC uk received today and I had an email to say new one was being shipped out today...if this one is non-faulty then I will be happy and well impressed by OCuk service.

whats the best drivers to use with this card
The latest catalysts (7.2 at the moment) or the latest omegas, depending on your preference.
Got an e-mail today saying my replacement had been shipped. If all is well i should have the replacement in the morning. Pretty good turnaround, shipped on tuesday, replacement on thursday!

Depends on your budget really.
I bought an X1950pro a couple of weeks ago and it blows away my X800gto2 (Flashed to X850XT)
However, I came into a bit more cash and have decided to give the 8800gts a bash, should be here tomorrow :D

suppose I am evaluating best bang for buck and it would be nice to have some longevity from a card - my x800 has lasted 2 years

what are you doing with your old a1950 pro?

Had an issue

After a few weeks of no problems it all went wrong. BF2 started black screening after 1-15 minutes. At first i thought it was the new PSU i was given, a Toughpower 650W. Anyway tried Far Cry and got massive amounts of corruption on screen (much like when too high an AGP aperture has been set). Messed about for days trying to get it to work and in the end reinstalled the drivers and Far Cry came back to life, BF2 still refused to work. Deinstalled BF2, installed again and all working (well ran for 2 hours without issues).

Now breathing sighs of relief as RMAing it from here would be a pain!

Anyone know if/when ATI Tool will be working with these cards?

What tools are used to clock these now?

I've used ATI Tray Tool to Overclock my Sapphire and Underclock my faulty HIS. I also ran the Find Max Overclock Test on my problem card to see which was failing, my memory or core, this also worked. Haven't used it on my new HIS, as the standard HIS default overclock is fine for me.

I’m well impressed, I sent my HIS AGP card back on Tuesday and received a new one this morning. I didn’t expect it until Monday at the earliest. I just wish I was at home and not at work so I could put it in and test it. I just hope this card is a worker.

last update the money has been put in the bank so i do think overclockers are good for rma's very fast better than another place that i will never go to

Our of interest what sort of peak temperatures are people getting on the HIS 1950Pro PCIe card?

Especially anyone running it in P or P2 Shuttle.

Fitting
Card is big and was quite a squeeze to get in needing a hard drive to be moved and covering up two of my 3.5” HD Bays.
I also fitted a new 600W power supply as my 450W Global Win Sapphire was a bit short on the 12V side.

Black Screen - Computer Hung
Only got this after installing Call of Duty 2 but it does it also in 3dMark06 if run at 1920x1200 COD last between 5-6 mins 3dm06 crashes on 2nd test.
Cured it by manually stepping the fan down from 100% in ati tray tools. Both run fine with 60% fan.

Rattling Fan
Lovely and quite for about a week then little rattles occasionally developed into a right racket most of the time. While curing the game crashes I found I could switch the fan off altogether. Peace at last and it does not seem too troubled if the fans on or not in 2d apps. Tray temps usually at 44 56 but go up to 45 58 under load.
So 60% Fan in games and non in 2d I can live with. Will have to see if it can still do that in the summer if not its time to do some plumbing.

AGP Fast writes
I set these off in the BIOS during the upgrade as I read it makes for better stability. It took me some time to realize this had given me playback problems with 1920x1200 Transport Stream (.TS files) that where encoded in either H.264 or mpeg 2. My CPU was hitting 100% and loosing frames in both Zoom Player Pro and VLC Player. Turning it back on cut my CPU usage in half and restored HD playback to its former glory.

Was it worth it?
Hell yes just for Call of Duty 2 alone
What a fabulous game at 1920x1200 with the surround sound cranked up full
In the heat of battle it’s so real it nearly has you soiling yourself as a German tank rumbles by and some ugly looking Nazi pops up and splits your face open with his riffle butt. Who would want to miss that?
