*** The Official Xbox One Thread ***

The Chromecast is just loaded with apps like Plex, the fact that it's plugged into an XO is pretty irrelevant unless you plan on snapping the pass through screen onto something else like a game, which I think is a bit pointless anyway given the size of the snap panel.

Yes pretty much, however my xbox allows pass thru hdmi (TV is old and only has one hdmi) and also allows output via digital from the hdmi in (amp doesn't strip off sound)

It's ideal for streaming my music via Google music,
Playing iplayer
Better YouTube functionality
Plex (stream downloaded mkv videos)

Got ryse today, best game I've ever seen!

Regarding pass-thru HDMI: Are you supposed to be able to watch TV without the XBox being on? I thought that was the point of pass-thru?

I hooked up my Humax Freeview box to the Xbox, but had to disconnect it as I couldn't watch TV without the XBox being on.

When I had the Humax hooked up to my BD player it worked as expected.

Bit of help please, picked up a used Xbox one. It appears to have a high pitched kinda whirling squeal noise. Checked and it's not the power brick, definitely coming from the fan under the vents at the right hand side. Is this a known problem?

I've not heard of it before but a quick google seems to indicate you need to contact MS to get the xbox replaced. Xbox should be practically silent.

Mine sounds nothing like that.

Seriously you wouldn't know it was on if there wasn't a light on the front it. It's eerily silent the only you can hear is the HDD sometimes churning away.

I just got mine on Wednesday and I am very very impressed with it. I still don't like the dashboard it just seems so counter intuitive it's not even funny.

Plus there are some bemusing admissions like seeing friends come online and that sort of thing but apparently there is a patch in the works that is going to rectify that problem?

As a media device this thing is in a league of its own IMO. Using kinect which I thought was going to be fad has turned out to be something very powerful and versatile indeed. For it to understand us Geordie's is a testament how decent this thing is for voice recognition...

Can anyone help with my xb1 query I wonder?

Lately when I watch Netflix I get little pauses on the picture but the sound keeps going. Its only little hitches but its noticeable. Anyone else getting this?

My Kinect died and I'm on with my 2nd pad now so I'm not overly impressed and I'm worried it won't last too long. I think the Netflix judder may be since I signed up for beta updates but I'm not sure. Any help or views would be much appreciated

Also when it's in instant in mode, after turning it off a weird electrical interference noise comes from the top of it for maybe 20 to 30 seconds. It's not super loud but I think it's the hdd. Is this normal?

I have an issue with my one. The pins are down and it is having trouble connecting but when I run the network tests the one reports everything is ok. Any ideas?
