**The one and only Official BioShock Thread**- now with added **SPOILERS**

Is the review in this months PCG? anyone confirm if they had Vista to test it on DX10 ? or was it XP only hence DX9 ? DX10 should run even better since it's more efficient!

It says they ran it max settings, At 1600*900 on AMD X2 5200, Entry level 8800 which I assume they mean 8800GTS 320mb, In DirectX 9.

Septembers issue, Out now.

Yeah I have the PC:G they were running it maxed with a X2 5200+, 2GB Ram, and a 8800, not sure which in DX9.

The PC devs did say DX10 will give more performance and effects though, or something.

Edit: From PC:G foldout:

The most empowering aspect is the ability to use complex shaders on all geometry in the scene without having to worry about blowing out performance.

DirectX 10 support allows us to implement a number of visual enhancements that otherwise wouldn't be possible."

Sounds like they reviewed it on XP and not Vista then otherwise it would have been even better to find out really the impact of DX10 (or lack of :p) but this will also push nvidia/ATI to release better dx10 drivers!

I just ordered the special tin edition for £26.99 free del btw, the store is expecting stock on the 22nd and will ship on arrival of said stock so I should have it Thursday 23rd if there are no postal delays!

Awesome!

My 4200+ and 8800GTS on Vista should be able to play this nicely :D

if i were to get this on PC instead o 360, do you reckon it would run nicely? (specs in sig)
Read above, PC Gamer ran it maxed out on a entry level 8800 with a X2 5200+.

So yes it will run fine, it should in theory run faster in DX10, it won't run worse at least the PC devs at Irrational Australia said it has more eye candy with no performance hit.

Well these modern games rely more on the GPU than the CPU so you're not going to be at a loss anywhere really. The recommended spec also backs this up as wlel as the various dev interview videos on gametrailers.com which stated that they wanted the game to run at a minimum of 30fps at all times or something like that .

Like HL2 it's a well developed game by the looks of it!

hmm.. i just think sitting on the sofa and playing on a 40inch tv will be more entertaining than sitting hunched over a desk, plus since its a slow paced shooter, not like css or anything, the controller will be fine.
Hook your PC up to the TV then? Unless it can't do 'HD' resolutions.

I prefer sitting at a desk myself, not just for my PC though I sit at a desk for my 360 as well, only way I can play.

Only 3 short weeks to go, my anticipation for this game grows by the day

Cant wait :)

Think I'm actually just as excited to get the Collectors Edition goodies as I am the actual game :p

Can't wait for this game, trying not to get hyped up about it - leaving all info well along.

Now I have a voice telling me to buy a mid-high end PC having just sold my last desktop system... aargh.
