Sounds like they reviewed it on XP and not Vista then otherwise it would have been even better to find out really the impact of DX10 (or lack of :p) but this will also push nvidia/ATI to release better dx10 drivers!

I just ordered the special tin edition for £26.99 free del btw, the store is expecting stock on the 22nd and will ship on arrival of said stock so I should have it Thursday 23rd if there are no postal delays!D

Which store did you find the special tin edition please?

Finally. A reason to upgrade I can fully justify.

I am impressed with the PC Gamer review. Not only by the score but how well it was written, spoiler free and with great passion.

For a change, I won't be dreading coming back from holiday!

Thats pointless,

they should release the demo first so people can upgrade/check perf.

If the game is genuinely good then more people will be interested.

Some news about the demo:

I contacted the USK rating board and Take 2 Germany to hopefully clear all rumours about the demo.

The German USK was the original source of the rumour. In late July, it revealed that a Bioshock Xbox 360 demo has been rated with "Mature". Afterwards, the information about this demo disappeared at the USK website. Why did this happen?

I wrote Christine Schulz, team leader at the USK. She replied that the whole process of rating and the result can remain secret, if the publisher wishes so. The rating of the product must be revealed at its release, though.

Christine Schulz also said that publishers can order to take a rated product out of the USK database before release. This is what Take 2 must have done with the Bioshock demo info.

It seems like Take 2 wanted to keep the demo as a secret for a while.

That's why I called Jochen Färber, PR Manager at Take 2 Germany. When I asked him today about the demo, Färber replied:

"I can't talk about it. Let us surprise you."

I told him about the USK rating and that the demo info disappeared. He replied:

"Let us surprise you...maybe it was rated for the GC (Games Convention) and we wanted to show it there?..."

All in all, we are still left without a real info. It seems like it's really up to Elizabeth Tobey, to announce something or not.

Take 2/2K's ambitious attempts to hide a demo let us ask for a reason. A demo after release is no big thing for real Bioshock fans, who like to play the game now.

So a PC/360 demo could still be coming and if they want to keep it a secret maybe it will just be a surprise, before the release hopefully.

Hope so anyway. ;)

I've seen three versions of the game

Normal

Collectors (with all the gubbins)

and then one on a competitor site which just appears to be the limited tin, but doesn't give any details on what else it comes with.

From this article they state that the game has also gone Gold. Can I get a Yeeeehaww :D :p

After the results of the Game Critics Awards were announced last week, we reached out to several winners for their reactions and some updates about their games in progress. The winner of Best Action/Adventure Game was BioShock from Irrational Games. We emailed some questions to Ken Levine, co-founder of Irrational Games. Here's what he wrote back:

What was your reaction to winning Best Action/Adventure game?
We've always won a ton of E3 awards for BioShock from the press, but we never picked up a judges' award before. So it was really gratifying.

BioShock has already gone gold. How have you celebrated this milestone in the past, and how did you celebrate this milestone for BioShock?

We just had a team party in Boston, and then we have a event on the launch night on August 20th, which we’re inviting lots of people to, including members of the BioShock fan community. I'm actually looking forward to that, because launches are usually such abstract things. You wake up launch morning and it’s like, "Hey, our game has, umm, shipped to retail!" It’s not exactly like headlining at Madison Square Garden.

With BioShock already getting great reviews, and Harmonix's Rock Band receiving early accolades, 2007 looks like a breakout year for the Boston game development scene. Is there anything that distinguishes game development in Boston from that in other cities, and how much is the departed Looking Glass Studios responsible for laying the foundation for what we see today.

I think LG had a LOT to do with it. Greg LoPiccolo was one of the key guys on Guitar Hero and Rock Band, along with lots of other former LG people. Irrational is just crawling with former LG people. Hell. I wouldn't be in Boston (or maybe the games industry at all) if LG didn't hire me and move me up here. It is strange to think that two of the biggest games of the year are Boston bred.

LMAO reading the 2KForums, Ken Levine speaking about Paul Hellquist, another Irrational Games team member:

Oh yeah the video was well good! I felt sorry for the Little Sister slowly backing away from that Splicer aiming a wrench at her face. :(

Edit: Anyone else think the graphics seem better on some of that new footage?
