While im waiting on getting a G71 ive been reading all this thread.So far i think i'll aim for 300ht/2.7ghz. Will the dfi sli-d be stable at anything over 300htt with just a wee bit more volts through the NB???

Not had a chance to try it on my own "CAB2E 0548" but another guy with a CAB2E i know has his a 2.7ghz on stock volts lol.I'll be happy with that.

You mean you've not tried prime yet or it has failed ?

Well tbh, when i took that screenie it was freezing in my room they normaly hit around 25/28c

Dont have any central heating in my flat

and i refuse to use the storage heaters unless it the weekend when im in the most.

Finaly got my SL-120 to fit on my ASRock board so it stays nice and cool, never seen it hit above 30c under load

What did you have to do to get the SL-120 to fit?
I'm presuming your on about the 939 ULI board..
Also.. did you get 2.6 on stock volts.. cos I've heard the 939 ULI can only do 1.35v for some reason

oh no, first things first.This thing hasnt even tasted its stock speed.Prime tested straight away in case god blessed me again.

Failed 3 gigs straight away.

Luckly i got my hands on a K8 Back plate which you dont get with the SL-120 (i nabbed it off a DFI board my mate had!) My ASRock can do 1.45max and is also the default!

So whats the best 939 air cooler available?
I'm heading in the direction of an SL-120 but have also heard that the Gigabyte G-Power pro is decent too..

Its to cool a 146 CABNE..

Ah... the almight typo

I meant to say default..
IE.. you can push up to 1.45 throught the CPU..

I was pretty worried when I read it could only do 1.35v out the box...

okay it looks like as long as it stays under 55 i can get opty 170 to 2.7 ram at 450mhz on prime stable 1/15 hrs dual prime.Hey can some one point me in the direction of updates i may need for the 32 bit windows.also am i missing being able to overclock the cores singly?

I have just got my ASRock Dual SATA board with an Opty 146 running at 2.7Ghz using Geil Value kit (2GB). The RAM is running at 225Mhz so I'm happy with that

Well finally it seems i found the nice stable sweet spot for the opteron 165
2655 @ 1.44V........this chip really does not like any major voltage through it, unlike my 170, which i think would be quite happy if i plugged it into the pylon outside

Did a couple of hours burn-in which allowed me to lower the voltage a bit, but shed no increase in speed.
will report on the other core as soon as i get time

it's a 146 any ideas?

I have two of these..... I can load windows, Pass SuperPi32, OCCT and prime small TFT's at 3.05Ghz.
At 3ghz its will pass all tests including 9hrs+ of Prime95 Blend. This is all at 1.522 Volts (CPU-z reading).
Havent tried anymore voltz but the chip seems to get better over time as it wouldn't prime small tft's at 3.05Ghz two weeks ago.
Haven't tried the other chip yet but i expect the same results.

Think my ballistix is playing up as i get crashes in games so i'm back using some old XMS PC3500 (BH-5) 140 divider @ 2-2-2-5.

Itll prime for 5 hrs torture test at 2.9 dual prime, but falls over after that at 1.4/45 volts.Ill try more and see if it will do the three gigs like the screenie,but am wondering if its just my board or ram or if its the memory divider on the chip.

I did memtest at 2.9gig and failed test 8 a lot but passed others inc 5.

So ill try a few more volts here and there then go back to over clocked ram 450mhz 166 divider and 2.7 gig cpu.Or do i back it off from here stay at 133 divider and get lower than 400mhz but what, a better cpu clock?
so confusing,Similar overclocking hurdles as my 146 so far.But this one seems more fun.what with this still on my mind

is there anyway to overclock each cpu individually?

Also please what are the updates i need for xp for dual core opterons?sorry if im missing the obvious
