The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Think my lack of dual-channel is killing me... hmm is there any chance you can run the test in single channel and see what difference it makes? Would be interesting to know. :)

Im not at home now so can't check it for you:|
btw, it seems the CABGEs getting around 2.85Ghz at 1.65-1.7v (stat at XS)

Hmm interesting... I may push to 1.7v later... thing is with this latest FI BIOS made by OCZ the Vcore is capped at 1.55 + 13%. I may have to flash back to something that gives me more... I just hope my heatsink is up to the task.

I'll tell you what though, my temps are rock solid... seem to hiver around 32 and I haven't seen them rise about 35 under heavy load... though temp reporting in mobos is always a bit screwy.

Well looks like ive got quite a decent one for a CABYE.... seems stable at 1.39v at 2.6ghz, but fails at 2.65ghz. Pretty sure its the cpu so might bump it up a notch to get to my target of 2.7ghz.

Great cpu either way - very happy :)

so what? it costs like 200 something, my 144 can do the same , at higher voltage though :p
I would have got a 144 or 146 if my Shuttles HTT was not limited at 280. Either way, I'm sure I could sell my my 148 and get my money back, especially as Opteron CABNE's appear to be no longer available.

Just think what it would do on a decent mobo with more volts and decent cooling. 3.1 on air maybe and 3.5 on phase?

edited to say that someone over at XF has got a 148 CABNE 0528 to 3120MHz with 1.6v on air. Not sure I'd put 1.6v thru mine with my crap cooling tho.

agree about that, its an awesome CPU if you can afford (and lucky) to buy one :)

got a strange one here my cabne 148 will not do 2.8 only at 1.7 v :( but a strange thing is i put it to 1.7v 255x11 =2800 then started to lower volts got to 1.4 when it prime95 for 30 mins then restarted :( now it will not do 2800 again unless i start it at 1.7v again me thinks not all cabne are good :(

Nice one WRXSTI.

This was my best effort.

Now waiting for my TT Big Typhoon to arrive. :D

My CABYE 144 0536 is sticking at 2.6ghz @ 1.45v for now. Prime stable for 12 hours. FX-55 speed for £120. Will do me fine. :)

Strange how the early chips (Athlon M's, winchesters, venices, optys) always clock like mad, and then they go down hill. Anyone would think AMD do it deliberately to reel people in and get the masses on the bandwagon. But I guess if they released poor chips first then nobody would buy them.

i think its more lucky dip if you get a good clocker or not and dont really see how the steeping affects it. i bet there is some cabge's out there hit 3ghz and some cabne's stuck at 2.4ghz :D

Well considering nearly every CABNE has reached 3Ghz on air ( with few exceptions)and from what i can see not one CABGE has reached 3 Ghz, id say your wrong.

Im certain its possible but to suggest your as likely to have chip that will do 3 Ghz when its a CABGE compared to a CABNE is simply crazy.

Im currently testing my second chip now, managed 2.95 on my first chip 32m Stable.
This chip isnt looking so good but could be memory related, iv left it burning in at home for the day, made a huge improvement on the first chip, its also itresting that the Seral Number is the next numer along i.e xxxxxxxxxxx125 and xxxxxxx126 so id assume they woudl clock extremely similarly. after that i have one chip left to test then the best clocking gets its IHS removed and pushed as far as i can.

axer: That isn't a stepping code, it's AMD's OPN for an OEM Opteron 144 processor. I found one for £110 all-in and should be taking delivery tomorrow. Been wanting to replace a sweaty Newcastle 3500+ in my Shuttle SN95G5v2 but Venice cores didn't suit with only 512k cache. These are sounding too good to miss and I would be over the moon to get one of these running at ~2.5GHz. Shame the Shuttle is restricted to 280HTT.
