The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

I would just like to say for all those Opteron owners who actually plan to use their mhz, that I was playing PES5 at 2.7ghz 1280x1024 4AA 16AF /7800gt and fraps reported my fps never dropped below 60

Opterown Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aaaahhhhHAHAAHA :D

awesome dude... just awesome! :)

i'll be pairing mine with a 7800GTX once my new rig is up and running, whats your clocked at?

i've got a 146 on the way, so hopefully about 2.6GHz or 2.7GHz is what i'm aiming to keep it constantly. obviously more if i can keep it rock solidly stable at higher speeds.

Thanks for all your help today Kesnel m8 :) don't know how but im at 2749 now just running occt at 1.5 volts :D it seems that ever 5htt increase I haft to up the volts 1 now but hay its getting there

No problem mate, was happy to help. :)

Be sure to keep me updated with your progress on getting it higher. :)

I feel your pain about the fussy mem controller on these. Couldn't run my memory above 200mhz under phase due to the cold bug.

Yes, so fussy!! I cannot believe that I have LA on the 166/133 dividers!

I will have another pop at a 1:1 o/c tomorrow but running out of time due to the CABNE. You can also see the awful vcore scaling, I think this core maybe towards the end of the line! LOL! :D

In sig, currently topping out at 325x9 1.62V, have tried more volts only to get errors in Prime

and thats on air, I cant be bothered going back to water tho ^^

BTW: CABYE 531 IIRC

Found a UK eTailer with both in stock but which one should i order? 146 for the 10x multi or the 144 and save a few quid.

It depends whether or not you've got a mobo and ram capable of high HTT,if you have then go for the 144 otherwise the higher multi will be necessary to achieve the max overclock possible.

not at all. you can use a divider. max clocks has nothing to do with multipliers

This will run at 280 on the ram so would i be best with the 144?

well you can always run a divider if you're fortunate enough to obtain a chip thats capable of higher HTT than 280(which is more than likely) but tbh I would go for the 146 as it's only a few quid more and that higher multi could prove to be very useful. :)

I suppose it's going to depend a lot on the cpu stepping i get.If i get a shoddy one,all the htt/multi in the world isn't going to make a difference.

146 it is then.Anyone yet had a decent clocker from 1 of the lesser stepping chips?

It does if you prefer to run 1:1 with your memory. Although it has been proved of late that tight timings are more preferable for A64 performance than the higher bandwidth of a 1:1 overclock, but yes,of course you are right the multi has nothing to do with how high you can ultimately clock your chip.

Also are these the same as venice etc, where [according to DFI Street] the divider has little negative effect on the overall performance?

I don't run a divider myself as my ram is capable of 275 @ 2.5,3,3,7 timings and unfortunatey my cpu maxes out at around 260HTT so I've never really had use for the dividers but I would imagine as long as you can run tight timings @ddr 400 then running a divider won't have any detrimental impact on real world performance.

I'd still go for the higher multi'd 146 though. :)
