The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

the cold bug is when a chip doesnt like being super cooled. ie below zero.
early winchesters had the cold bug as well.

for the phase change users its a nightmare. luckily all my chips loved -70 loving ;).

Speaking of which, guess what my 144 has?

I have one night at home to test it, so I put it straight under phase. At 1.7v it won't take any HTT above 230.

Maybe if I can be bothered to rip through all the seal string I'll give it a go on air.

These CABYE chips are amazing i have knocked my voltage down to 1.44 volts, cpu at 3015ghz and stress testing now :)

Haven't had time to test it properly on air.

This one has an even worse cold bug than my 146, so looks like it's off to the MM. ;)

I'm in at 3ghz too, i'll get some screenies and benchies later. Temps seem OK for air-cooling though higher than i'm used to, mid forties+. :)

Getting a 31s 1MB PI time lol... 2T and single-channel really blows.:(

EDIT - lol forgot to mention that on boot I forgot I was using a 10x multi so set the HTT to 320... was confused for a minute or two as to why it kept rebooting. :D

So far my CAB2E is at a whopping 260x9-2340mhz :p . My rig won't post much above this, so I think I need to up the chipset voltage. Probably. I just need a temp monitor to see how hot it's getting. Can anybody recommend one?

On a different note, my Geil Value 2x512 kit runs at 212mhz (DDR424) at 2,3,3,5 at default on 2T without any voltage hike!?!?!?! It wouldn't even post at these timings on other motherboards I've used!!! Whats going on there then?

I can't seem to get stability on 1T, maybe I need to fiddle about a bit more. :D

Mobo is an Epox 9NPA+.

Youre running CL2... set it to CL2.5-3-3-7... 2 is way too low for the RAM if you want any stability at an overclock... especially at 1T.

Stick the RAM voltage to 2.9v too to make sure it has enough juice... what motherboard are you running?

Just out of curiosity, whats the highest OC anyone has on a decent Undervolting setup? Was gonna try and run mine at 1.25v at 2.8GHz, no reason mind just to see if it does it.

I have managed to get mine just about stable at 3.0GHz with 1.525v it will prime for around 3 hours, maybe it just needs a little more time to burn in properly, might try putting it up to 1.65v for 48 hours and see if that helps at all.

Does anyone else use a MSI K8N Neo Plat? Can you get it past 300HTT?

I'm having real problems trying to overclock my 2 Opterons, there both 146 CABYE 0540FPAW and are just refusing to overclock. I have 2 systems almost identical both with the same problem, here are the specs:

146 Opteron
Asus A8N-E
X800 GTO2 (Both unlocked np)
3 x 512 Twinmos ram
Audigy 1/2

Both machines refuse to overclock, I've tried numerous settings suggested by different people all to no avail. The majority of the time the computer will boot but justs hangs at the System Configuration screen, if it does manage to make it to Windows then CPU-Z sees it as defaults.

I've look everywhere for information, I can find plenty of forums saying they overclock no problem with the board yet no information on the settings. Even the AI settings in the bios won't boot, using AI Booster in windows can get it running at 2.3 but highly unstable. Have I missed some obivous setting or something? Its really starting to drive me crazy and even caused me to finally sign up here. I can understand one of them not working but both :S Does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a RAM issue, are you running a divider? Try with 2x512mb instead of 3.

wtf... all of a sudden my RAM is working in dual-channel in at 1T. tried it in orange slots out of curiousity and got a boot for the first time... which then hung before windows. So I change to yellow and voila... im typing here. Whether it does it every boot is another thing...

29S 1mp PI now... so will tighten RAM timings and see what I get...
