The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

well mine seems to be holding out quite good, the cab2e that is, has been sitting at 2.9Ghz on stock cooler. 13hrs Prime (GO2004) stable and 23mins S&M stable, will leave it cooking overnight.

i was at 2.8Ghz last night and did the cooking all night which i think has really helped.

very nice. Two more questions. What did you do the cooking with last night and for how long. Oh and what vcore now and last night?

cheers

Started playing with my 146 CABYE 0540 FPAW today. I think the chip isn't particularly awesome coupled with my mobo being silly :( Could get into Windows for a SS at 2.98Ghz, but it BSODed after 5 mins of Prime.

Should hopefully be able to get 2.8Ghz stable on a 5:4 divider though will try for that tomorrow night... just gonna let it Prime overnight at stock to run it in.

Even on a low multi the mobo can't deal with HTT over 297Mhz. At 298Mhz it hangs on the boot screen. Strange as I used to run 300HTT on an older BIOS revision, so Asus have obviously funked something up

Also even when I'm running a 3:2 divider, the chip can't handle CAS2 over 279HTT. Can anyone smell a crappy memory controller? Or maybe it's just the mobo being annoying! Anyways I'm really starting to think about getting the DFI Xpert board when it comes out...

But will this help me get 3Ghz stable?

Cheers,

Suman

Thought I should mention it's currently 3 hours SNM stable 2.5GHz 1.3v which amazes me. Apparently peoples systems that were 24 hours Prime stable failed SNM after just 3 minutes.

Most people are neglecting to place their Prime95 priority to '10', leaving it instead on the default '0' (IIRC).
Not suggesting Prime is a fail-safe stability tester but it does help if it's used correctly.

well it does 2.8Ghz @ 1.360 (default volts) (i tested a few days ago when i got it)

ive slammed 1.6v @ 2.8ghz into it and then did (GO2004) all night last night (13hrs+). for the cooking today am gonna leave it all night with S&M this time and then see how it clocks in the morning.

edit:

now its 1.6V @ 2.9Ghz 322x9 and a good 40+ into S&M

i thought priority 1 in go2004 was the highest most intensive, isnt it?

I shouldn't think so, not unless they've taken a completely different tact to Prime95 on which it's based.

The default priority 0 is fine if no other programs are running however if they are they will be able to 'steal' cycles resulting in the CPU not being as fully stressed as it would otherwise be.

is GO2004 short for something because i cant find it in google? Ive never used it before can anyone give me a quick low down on why its different to prime or occt?

A question on scores in 3Dmark 2003.

I managed to get my scores to 11,580.

Thats with the specs from my below sig. And my RAM is Corsair 512mb DDR400 XMS.

Is that good? Or should i be looking at a higher score?

Well, my CAB2E is stable at 1.5 @2.9 Ghz (might be able to drop the voltage, this is what the mobo is supplying automaticly!) prime 95 12 hours. 32C idle 40C load Arctic freezer64 pro.
What do people consider a safe max voltage is? maxtcase is 58C on this cpu so i'm nowhere near that. I would really like 3Ghz tho in truth I have not tried it there yet – damn work!

I think the chip has more to give but the memory is holding it back, the timings are as loose as they go and the divider means the memory is at 152Mhz :( I’m also not sure how good my xpro psu is as it is only 20pin and the 12volt rail reads low in the bios…

I was trying to find the max of the board but that is giving me weird issues on the epox board. If I drop the multiplier the machine will not boot just get a lot of askey twaddle on the screen and have to reset, its very odd!

I had a quick go at over clocking my GTO2, it flash to 16 pipes fine but the system seems to hang at a core speed of about 510Mhz which is a bit annoying. I do not get any rendering errors the system just locks up. any ideas?

Will play more tonight, tho I have to get on with job applications :(

I have a question guys.
I have got geil value 2gb running at 2.5 3 3 7 a 2T
and have clocked my opty 146 to 2.75 tottaly stable.
but I cannot run it at 1T. Is this beacuse of my value ram, or am I missing something.

Im guessing that there is no ram out there in 1Gb per stick size that does 1t command rate. Correct me if Im wrong my Knowledge about ram stopped with BH-5.
