The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

29s is what I got too... on en "everyday" system with a less than fresh install. I was just checking as I had someone on my forum telling me 29s was high for 3ghz... but for an unoptimised, non-benchers rig I think it's alright.

FFS i'm getting those temps at stock whilst idle. I'll have to take off the cooler and apply as5 instead. How much should i put on an opteron with the artic freezer cooler? A half grain of rice sized dollop?

I never do that... a baked bean is FAR too much, wow. I get a razor/credit card and spread a paper thin layer over it. That way it ensures peace of mind that you get a smooth, even contact with the HSF.

Yeah I put about a rice-grain sized drop of AS5 and use a CC to spread it out, funny how well it spreads. I don't think some people realise it's only there to fill the gaps (really really small ones :))

I have put my Opty 144 in and set it to 280 with a 9* Multiplier - 2475Mhz
I have not altered any RAM settings in the BIOS yet and windows is not stable.
Tried running SuperPi and it just came up with errors.
Any ideas on what my next move should be

Demon

P.S. My RAM is Corsair XMS3200 C2PT(2*512MB Matched pairs *2 - 2Gb in total)
