The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Mines a 146 CABYE (thanks to Rich !) and I'm quite happy at 2.6GHz stock volts with 1GB Crucial Ballistix PC3200 RAM at 2-2-2-8 1T 219 MHz (??) 1:1 and it's super slick at everything :D although a boringly low overclock I know :o Great value CPU's (£112 all in inc p+p)
 
pmsl, im addicted, i see them in stock and buy one lol
want one with a stronger mem controller as mine gives in @ 3.15ghz unless the ram is under 200mhz
just sold my 2 144's for £70 and the 148 for £100 so will leave me with 3 lovely 146's, will post stepping in the morning :D

o and heskey, did you not have 3 146's? im sure i seen you auction 2 for profit

Well if my 144 doesn't want to play ball, I might be pestering you for a 146 ;) like Hue Hefner, he wouldn't miss one of his fillies ! :cool:

i have, 180, 166 & 150
bit confused now though, the other does 3.1ghz stable with 1.55V but the ram has to be kept near 200mhz for it to pass and this one is looking similar :(
 
Memtesting now at 3Ghz, RAM 3:2 at 200Mhz 2-3-3-7-1T. All seems fine so far (fingers crossed)! Do you guys just boot straight into Windows, or is there anything else you do to check stability? I normally run Memtest overnight before I let a madly overclocked CPU get anywhere near my RAID array :p

i just boot @ 10x280 and then 10x300 like i did with the one i got today, if it dont go in windows & pass occt straight away at them speeds with 1.55V its not worth me keeping it lol :p

Seriously though, don't you bother fiddling about with the gazillion and one memory settings in the Genie BIOS?? I spent about half an hour just now trying umpteen different combinations before it would boot!

i got one at 3.1ghz stable so any others i get, i only test briefly with all settings relaxed to try and get a rough idea what it can do asap, if it wont go over 3ghz stable its not good enough for my other rig lol

if anyones looking for a 14x & is wondering whats happening, it doesnt look good for opterons future, reading info like this everywhere atm :( here
