*** The OS X Lion Thread ***

Safari looks good seems like a good idea with the 3 finger swipe to go back and forward and the 2 finger to go back a page a little confusing but I think I may give it a few days

Also, is there a way to set spaces to individual applications like in the old spaces. Want that back.

Right click the application on the dock, click options, click 'assign to this desktop.'

Just stumbled upon a really really weird change in Lion. You no longer have the ability to hold down alphabetic keys and have them repeat. Just try it.

Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgh!

I'm giving it until tomorrow, and if I'm still this annoyed by it I'm reverting to my TM backup.

Leave the MBP closed. It's designed to run in clamshell mode.

If it breaks then just take it to Apple and point. New MBP.

Ummm...well i couldn't resist it really...heard that WoW performance was better in lion so clicked the buy button.

Only problems i'm having so far are;

Logged in user name in top right corner (want to hide)
I am using an external monitor and when i open the laptop up to let it breath better both monitors come on (is nice that it does this but want the monitor to stay off)
The light grey frames...like the program is in the background. Don't like
The colour balance seems wrong too. Everything is too bright! :o

Any way to solve these problems!?

I can only help with the 'logged in user name'

System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options > Uncheck "Show fast user switching..."

I've just noticed that Safari's tab behaviour is now so much better, open a link with a middle mouse click and the new tab opens next to the current one, not at the end (like it has been in IE/Firefox for a while)

How are you getting a middle mouse click
Surely you can only get 2 ..

I think that's a bug - there is an option to turn it off but it's... not!

It's out of warranty now. Old 2.8Ghz late 2008 MacBook Pro.

It gets a hell of a lot hotter whilst in clamshell mode. I can work around it by loading into a game full screen and then opening it up but it's kind of annoying when i minimise the game to look on the net for a minute or two as it will turn the MacBook screen on.

It's kind of annoying that the option to tailor how you want the monitors to work is nowhere to be seen. It's so dumbed down and just gives the option of resolution...

I fell in to the trap of installing Lion before burning the DMG file not realising that the install deletes it afterwards and now I can't burn a copy or re-download it from the App Store :(

I can't seem to locate my Lion download. It downloaded and installed okay although when I look in the applications folder, its not there. Anyone else having/had this problem or know where it might be.
Had a look on the app store but there doesn't seem to be an option to download it again?

Cheers

Jack

edit - Just read the post above so used TimeMachine and recovered it that way

Go to Mac App store, click Purchased 'tab', where lion says Installed, Option+Click and it will change to install, you can re-download that way, I'm going it now to make a DVD copy for a fresh install in the future (when I've bought an external HDD for Time Machine).

Someone please tell me how to disable the utter POS that is iOS autocorrect. It is now 'correcting' all my twitter tweets, i.e making a mess of everything I type. I had no idea the feature was even in Lion!

Update: Sorted. @xdracco: You can turn auto correct off.. sys prefs-> language and text->disable ‘Correct spelling automatically’.

Some of the fonts in all browsers look odd in my Lion. Especially visible on ebay pages - the item headers in listings....

Whoever decided scrolling up should scroll down by default should be shot.

Pathfinder doesn't return to the top upon clicking icon for me, a bit annoying.

Finder now looks rather grim and tabletish with all grey icons etc. And still has the same idiocies, nothing has been fixed.

I don't understand the idea of launchpad. What am I supposed to use it for? I know where all of my applications are. They are in a folder called Applications. Do I really need application in Applications to show me my applications in Applications as separate multiple pages? What am I missing?

WTF are my network machines and drives?
