I'm just having a play with it now that I've installed it on my laptop.
It does seem like it's been built around using gestures, but I think we already knew that. I wasn't keen on how they reversed the direction of scrolling, so changed that already.

Launchpad - Seems like a quicker way to access all the apps in your applications directory than going to Finder. However though, the common apps you use you tend to keep in your dock. So what is the best way of using this now? Hide the dock and just have a shortcut so you can access Mission Control. Or keep the dock and it's pretty much the same as usual. Hmmm....

Mail - Seems to be closer to how it looks on the iPad. Need some time to use it properly but my first thought is that I'm not sure how it's going to be.

Switching desktops is nice and quick with the gestures to switch between them.
They now are all inline though, rather than in a grid like Spaces was.

One other thing I noticed, which doesn't really bother me, but I thought Server would be included with Lion. But not it appears it's a £35 'add-on' for it's functionality. I'm sure they said it was included originally.

I've updated my parallels to the latest version and it's booted up ok, but i'm going to have a dig around and make sure everything is running ok.

I'm really liking Safari, had to reinstall my 1password add-on but that wasn't a problem.

Turned off the option on mouse for gesture-direction as my scrolling was backward.

Full screen is ace, even in safari!

Checking VMware now.

iTunes 10.4 is also on Software Update.

Parallels is fine on my units? Latest build.

Also, the source is downloaded to your Applications folder - copy it before you install.

Urgh this is nasty, they reversed scrolling via the trackpad and I can't see how you can change it back :(

Trackpad option in the System Preferences. It's the one called something like Natural, uncheck it.

I don't understand why they made that change either.

Potentially silly question:

Does upgrading from SL leave all files/apps/settings intact?

Pretty much. Everything is still here for me apart from the NX Client which has been disabled as it's a PowerPC app.

Run the software update when you can, there is a new iTunes out for Lion amongst other things.

"OS X Can't be installed on the disk because a recovery system can't be created."

Once again Apple demonstrate that their computers are not flawless and I've just wasted 2o quid. Why should I have to go through the stress of having to sort this **** out.

Angry.

My friend had issues too. He ended up wiping the drive, repartioned it, restored from time machine, and then began installing Lion.

Anyone figured out how to make Google Chrome go back and forth through pages using multitouch, now? Three fingers used to do it. Now I can't find a configuration that allows this functionality.

Make a full backup of your hard disk and all of its data (including your Boot Camp partition, which is not normally backed up by Time Machine), then erase your hard disk and create a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) partition.

Reinstall Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, then re-download the OS X Lion installer from the Mac App Store and retry your install.

If you use Boot Camp, you can run Boot Camp Assistant after installing OS X Lion to create a new Boot Camp partition, then restore the data from the backup you made of your previous Boot Camp partition.

You can also use the OS X Lion installer from the Mac App Store to create an external bootable drive, complete with a Recovery HD partition. See this article for more details. This approach will, at least, create a bootable drive with Recovery HD which you can carry with you in case you need to use Internet Restore or make use of the other utilities Recovery HD provides.

I'm going to cry.

Apple are ****s
