*** The OS X Lion Thread ***

Not really wanting to lose space for a restore partition but do want to have the whole disk encryption. No choice really :(

One day I'll buy a decent sized SSD.

Think I'll hold off and get it downloaded/installed tomorrow.

Question, if I download Lion on my iMac, is there a way to also get it on my Macbook? Do I just redownload from app store or do I have to pay twice? :o

And did I see someone said Spaces isn't on Lion?? :(

You can install it on as many machines (by redownloading without further cost) as you have registered to the same apple id iirc.

This is the first OS X release which i'm not snapping up on day 1...

I think i'm going to wait for benchmarks before diving in. None of the "new" features appeal to me either.

Anyone figured out how to make Google Chrome go back and forth through pages using multitouch, now? Three fingers used to do it. Now I can't find a configuration that allows this functionality.

Yeah, took me an age to work it out. Hold 'alt' when you swipe. I expect an update or something will make it easier in future.

Coming down the pipe at 3mb here. Shouldn't be long. My uMacbook's all time machined up!

As AtticusFinch says you don't need to pay twice, (as long as both machines are using the same App Store account).

As for downloading it twice, well if the way of creating a DVD/USB installation media from the download (prior to running the installer) works then you could use that to upgrade the other machine without re-downloading again. In theory at least.

In Snow Leopard using the finder I used to be able to use a 3 fingered swipe gesture to quickly navigate back through the folders I had been browsing, this seems to have disappeared, or has anyone found it?

liking it so far pretty seamless one button press update :)

not sure about having my name up on the task bar at the top though

Downloaded and installed

Absolutely love it. Had my trackpad since Christmas but barely used it as I had a Magic Mouse, now it's got a use! And the gestures are so good :D

Finally making progress, although some apps just refused to use SL preferences, maybe because I did a clean install.

I might have to get a magic trackpad for my Mac Pro.
