The Police Application Thread

Hope it goes well.

After much faffing about and troubles at home I have now finished my second application form so I will be sending it off soon.

Hope this one gets through!

An update on my application with Sussex Police, completed the assessment centre, and the two week wait proceeding it was what seemed the longest wait in my life, genuinely thinking I had messed up the role play section. Somehow I managed to pass and am delighted! They sent a letter out now saying they will be contact with me in the next couple of months regarding my fitness test, it seems so close yet so far, but I'm almost there even though I'm fully away there may be a lengthy wait following the fitness and medical!

Thinking about putting my application on hold perhaps for the next intake next year, initially I was going to commit time out of Uni for the specials, no problem. I have since got a part time job 22 hours p/w. Come November time (Intake) I may not have the time to dedicate to all three. It's a tough decision which I am still chewing over. I'm going to think about it for a few more weeks.

I passed the interview, but the vetting and counter terrorism form take ages to fill out :(

I also have to see the GP and opitician for them to sign stuff :(

Got a letter from Cleveland Police regarding my PCSO application. It says the intake is March 2010 and my application will get "priority" if something comes up in the meantime. Also they want me to resend off my security forms due to a period of time since I last did them. Seems a while off but I'm sure I can wait seeing as I have done since Nov 2007 when I applied! It's unfortunate the area round here takes so long to post people.

Well, after missing my assessment centre on 21st July due to swine flu I have finally been given a new date of 20th October.

It's weird to think it was way back on 1st April that I first went to the recruitment event!! 7 and a bit months wait for the assessment centre, and no doubt another 5-6 months from here! Crazy!

Trouble is, I am now having second thoughts about the Met. I am living in East Sussex now (30 mins from where I used to live in Kent (albeit on the border of East Sussex)) and I really love the countryside more than I thought, I might look into transferring my app, not sure yet.

Bare in mind rural policing is very different to urban policing. It may be more boring but you're more likely to get driver training.

Yeah that is something I have considered. I got pulled over and given 3 points a few weeks back and I couldn't help but feel excited as I sat in the back of the unmarked 09 Golf GTI, it was AWESOME in there!

The girl I am seeing has a brother who is in Sussex police so I may well have a proper chat with him about it all. I know a few people in the Met who I have spoken to so I guess I just need to weight up the pro's and con's of each.
