The Police Application Thread

Congrats Burnsy.

I took my assesment day in April 09 but failed got 53% and needed 60% for Leicestershire.

Got a letter shortly after saying that I will have a new assesment day after 1st October 09 meaning they would re-use my application form.

Then about a month later I recieved another letter saying I have to wait a year now from the date I failed and have to start the process from scratch again. So have to go to a seminar, re do application form etc.

Anyone know if this is the new waiting time? Or is this just for Leicestershire? Had a look around the website but it still states 6 months so am a little confused.

Only failed on team working so its not like I got a D in Race and Diversity.

Cheers

Only way to find out for definite is to ring them up and ask.

Started my training yesterday for the specials. I've got quite a few training sessions coming up over the next couple of weeks, starting with making an arrest and significant statements on Tuesday evening. I'm quite looking forward to the OST as well, despite what others have said about it.

Hopefully you won't be waiting like I have been Burnsy!

I was told the next intake was in July, however they postponed that and put it back to Jan / Feb, though I have heard in the grape vine that it might be slipping from those dates too.

I fully passed and was signed off at the start of June. First applied in January '08, so it will have taken around 2 years to fully go through the system and I haven't had a start date 12 weeks after passing!

A bit disheartened and can't get any further details out of the recruitment team, they've just kept schtum...

It's an interesting thread this one to read as i wish i had joined the police when i left college. Just to say well done to everyone who has taken this step and gone for it, well done Shotgun Ned on becoming a Police Officer and to all others going through the process.

I am now 34 years old and wish i had applied years ago. I am in a boring office job, which although pays good money bores me to tears. After reading this thread it makes me want to apply, but although there is no age limit, i feel too old to apply now. Maybe if and when the next recruitment drive starts i will apply, i find myself always checking for the next one. :)

There's a guy in my class who's 45 and spent most of his life in the RAF.

Had Making arrests yesterday and just come back from stop, search and encounters. Have to say they were both very interesting and I enjoyed it, though we've only really scratched the surface of each section.

Just to keep the OcUK anti-police and rumour brigade informed, can you just confirm that you beat the subjects up and hid your epaulette numbers as well ?

Heh! Love it!

Well.. i've been in the job nearly 3 months now and although things are really getting thrown at us now, I can honestly say I'm loving every minute of it.

First exam monday.. so hopefully all will be well.

Good luck to everyone who's applying for regs or specials.. the wait is worth it!
